S.U.B.s were made in America by the main MusicMan facility between 2003-2005, with the option of passive or active pre-amp. They have a slab body that's pretty much indestructible, and also had a 5 string option. SUB stands for Sports Utility Bass.

Rumor has it that they were discontinued because the SUBs were taking away from main Stingray sales and losing money on such a high quality product.

Its a passive, or two band Ray with a painted black neck and a matte textured finish, and a slab body.

I'm pretty sure they were discontinued because they couldn't keep production costs low enough to meet their sale price.

I love the white ones of these... so cool looking.
They are like a Classic, without the fancy neck and $2k-ish price.

And they may also have been discontinued, not just for the cost, but for the negative effect they had on the sales of the regular versions. I've heard that too.

They are built well, sound great, feel great... can't go wrong!
