Why not just buy a cab that sounds good all on its own? That way, it's just one cab to haul to get the sound you like, not a full stack

1) Cost--- I buy used
2) Volume
3) More gear on stage for looks

Im on the low budget side of things peavey mark 6 head, sa 210 4ohm, peavey bvx 115 black widow 4 ohm, but i dig it thats all that matters

No offense to the poster on this one. The Sweetwater statement is the biggest piece of marketing gobbledy-gook I have read in a long time. Shame on Sweetwater. I can't find one factual statement in their quote at all. But that's advertising. Advertisers stretch the truth. It's known as puffery, and perfectly legal.

If people have reasons to mix, that's fine. But the above statement is misleading and in fact means nothing.

No. Mixing is a crap shoot, and matching cabs always put out more SPL than mis-matched cabs. Always.

You looked at them one at a time---- all 3 are taken into consideration ---- so mixing cabinets at a bargain price for what's available gets louder--- especially when I add the taboo of putting them on opposite sides of the stage.

So i have read a hole bunch of negative stuff posted on TB about mixing cabs. And i have read nothing but how big of a P. O. S the siesmic audio cabs are, well granted they are cheap, but i got the SA 210 4ohm put it ontop of my 115 black widow:mixing cabs:and a P. O. S , with my mark 6 head, and let me tell you this rig sounds very very good. Good tone good punch good volume and very clear at any volume . so dont allways be so quick to put something down untill u have tried it, just thought i would put that out their. Keep rockin

Im not saying that mixed cabs are better than mached, all im saying is my current set up sounds pretty dam good, and mixed should not be ruled out

That's not what the OP had in mind about discussing mixing cabs. He was referring to making a stack.

I agree. And considering the point of on-line forums is to create community and educate, many of us would be remiss if we did not point out the potential to waste both money and time by ones own white whale and other mythic misadventures. Party on, Garth.

Is there anyone that has experemented (i cant spell ) with , lets say , different off the shelf 15" speakers in a ... Lets say a popular 15 " bass cab. What were the results ? Is there anyone on this forum that put a random 15" into a readily available cab that can confirm all of this ?? You know like a hartke or a mesa or an ampeg, aguilar ??? Who has actual experience messing around with speakers ? Every one here is talking about computer programs , has anyone actually messed around with different speakers in random cabs to find out what really happens ?

my messing around with biamping is reported above. A mild gain of fidelity over both full range.
