Saw it, i thought it was lame. I tihnk they were trying to go for the cult movie appeal that they got with Napoleon Dynamite. Not going to happen again, jack black is too well known of an actor to pull it off. Just a lame movie.

Nerd with an afro in a movie that I can't possibly tell you what it's about and a movie about a monk (?) who becomes a mexican wrestler. They do sound exactly the same to me. :hmm:

I want to see it, but then again, I like stupid movies.

It was directed (i think, not produced,i dont remember) by the same person, and trust me , it comes off exactly the same. You have your main character, who is a little weird, and their mexican sidekick, Pedro in ND, and some other guy who i honestly cant even tell you what his name was in this movie.

Figjam alluded to the similarities, let me expand...

Intro credits presented in similar fashion.
Goofy, not-sure-of-himself guy trying to fit in with his peers. Mexican buddy who no one really knows anything about.
Weird, catchy music.
Main character struggles to be cool despite adversity all around him.
Strange dancing from main character.
Main character and Mexican buddy challenge and beat the "popular kid".

Check it out on a half price matinee deal. It has a total Napoleon Dynamite vibe to it.

You should go see it then. He pulls of the Mexican character really well. I had my doubts, but he has the accent down really good. Some of the outfits he appears in are going to crack you up. When he sings the song to Ramses at the party, you'll love that too. The song to Encarnacion is funny as well, very Tenacious D sounding.

I really, really like Jack Black's movies. I even enjoyed King Kong!

Still, mostly due to my extreme hatred for Napolean Dynamite and anything related to that travesty of a movie, I have absolutely no desire to see this movie.

That, and it didn't look very funny in the previews.
