NAD: Markbass

Just picked this up at GC for $300. I normally wouldn't try to go into a GC right now, but it was a weekday and there was about 5 customers in the store and everyone had masks on and were being overly socially distant. They had a sign up that said no one was allowed in the store without a mask. Good for them. When I got there I was number 3 in line to enter. They had Purell hand sanitizer and upon entry every customer was made to sanitize their hands. Everyone was at least 6 feet apart. After a couple of people left I was allowed to go in. They had arrows taped to the floor for directional purposes. I was actually quite impressed by the lengths they were taking to ensure health and safety.

According to the manual it is 250 watts RMS into 4 ohms, so I will be looking for a good 4 ohm cab that can do 300 watts RMS or greater. Take a look...

I was looking on the Avatar website at one of these.. Not bad for $379.

Congrats on new amp.

You may want an 8 ohm single speaker cab; so you can add another if you need. It is not just watts that give you more output volume.

Since you seem okay with single 1x12 46lb cabinet you may find a lightweight 2x12 or 2x10 4 ohm for a couple hundred more and similar or less weight.

If weight is of no concern and you like Avatar get 8 ohm version with idea you will add another Avatar soon; will have less power only temporarily. But end up with much more output/dynamics than with just single 1x12

Good advise. Thanks.

Where are you located? Sounds like you live in a common sense place.

As fpr cabs, Markbass heads really do sound better through markbass cabs. I can suggest getting 1 of the NY151 Black cabs if you are on a budget. They sound great with the LM250. Then if you ever need more volume just get another later on. For a little more money there is the NY122 which is 4 ohms. This is the best cab Markbass makes IMHO. Very open sounding, fairly balanced tonally, and very punchy. If you like a more old school sound there are the 104HR and 104HF cabs which can be ordered in 4 ohm versions.

As for the VLE and VPF filters, they are best used individually. The VLE is a high pass filter and turning it clockwise gives a more vintage tone. The VPF is a mid scoop filter, turning it clockwise accentuates bass and high frequencies.

No, VLE is a low pass filter.
