NAD! SVT7 Pro (also comparing it to my Streamliner 900)

I think I've used Ultra Lo with my Hamer 12-string for approximating a dUg Pinnick/King's X overdriven type of tone.

I play with 20 tubas, so I'm usually pumping out the low sub frequencies where they can't go. In different situations I wouldn't use Ultra Lo. So I'm sorry, but I like it. ;)

I'm also using a Schroeder cab which is mid present. I'll try it tonight with my Acme.

It looks like a slight boost with the 200hz selected would give a pretty flat response. I'd probably boost the treble up alittle from there. Flat response with a slight treble boost is pretty much my sound. My cabs have a slight low mid hump as well. Im fighting the urge to try one of these. Anyone want to trade for a shuttle 9.0? :smug: I think my sm9.2 is the better gigging amp but, this is a great one too. I like the overdrive better on the 7-pro for sure.

I used to love the ultra-lo, especially when I first got my 7 pro. I thought I needed it for the sound I was going for but I just couldn't get close enough. Once I stopped using it I'd have to say I got my sound. There are cases where I can see it working and if it gives someone the sound they want great. My preferences have moved away from that sound though.

glad to hear that you're digging it. i'm getting addicted to mine. it even makes me play a bit more everyday ever since i got it. ;)

BTW, i can see how the ultralo would help a schroeder cab since they are so mid heavy. i was playing mine with the ultralo in for a while today and with a nornally voiced cab, if you boost the mids pretty heavily at 450 or 800 it can sound HUGE that way.

My hope is that even if it doesn't sound "exactly" like a VR, I will like the tone a lot and move towards using it as my main amp :) We shall see though... I'm 26 and 6'5. I'm going to really like the way it sounds since I can't use the "the tube amp is too heavy" excuse ;) If anything at least it will be a killer backup and an awesome portable monster rig with my composite Dually.

if you like your VR, then i think that you'll love it. in some (strange) ways, i like my 7pro just as much. mostly due to it having more headroom and able to play louder than my VR clean (although a slightly dirty SVT is a godly thing to behold). it has it's own type of punch and all of the notes have the same amount of it.

The Ultra-Low switch is probably a lot more usable than it was on the 3 Pro - where it would just suck the balls out of your tone.
(I could probably have worded that better). :rolleyes:

I sometimes use ultra-low when playing quietly-jazz, blues etc... sorta like a "loudness" button on old tape decks/ghetto-blasters.

Gives a squishy, full sound that works for me at lower volumes.

Once Im playing with anything above -being able to chat with drummer during songs-volume, or playing more upbeat, funk, soul etc, it goes off
