NAD! SVT7 Pro (also comparing it to my Streamliner 900)

Yeah, I can hear this amp and the nv610 working well together. The broad treble control would brighten up the cab nicely and the 40hz bass control would plump up the low end that some folks would miss with the nv.

My hope is that even if it doesn't sound "exactly" like a VR, I will like the tone a lot and move towards using it as my main amp :) We shall see though... I'm 26 and 6'5. I'm going to really like the way it sounds since I can't use the "the tube amp is too heavy" excuse ;) If anything at least it will be a killer backup and an awesome portable monster rig with my composite Dually.

I'm 25 and 6'5"... so I totally feel your pain on this one.

I'm short and old but know how to load out. I grab my bass, put it on my back. Effect board in one hand and other bag in my other hand. Casual conversation with band members while at the back of the car and they grab the speakers and amp. It's all about timing. ;)

Just finished re-reading this thread, and I have a few questions.

Have any of you played DB through a 7Pro? My guess is it would be great, but I'd love to hear from someone who's actually tried it.

How much of the "7Pro sound" is available at the pre-out jack? Since this head can't handle 2 Ohms, how would it sound if I used the 7Pro to drive a 4 Ohm cab, and use its pre-out to drive a separate power amp for my other cab?

As good as John's clips sound, they're much brighter than the sound I'm after. How effective is the EQ at removing excess brightness without changing the overall sound of the 7Pro?

if you turn the treble down, it'll just roll off the top end without really effecting anything else. i actually added a little treble in some of the clips since many of them were thru my dual 3015 cab that has less treble than my 15PR400 cab, but the amp doesn't sound all that bright when you're playing t in person.

Thanks, John!

I was wondering if alot of the brightness was coming from the recorder being near the cone. Step back alittle and it wouldn't be as bright.

yep. there's some of that too. plus the level on the H4n had to be attenuated to it's max to keep it from distorting which also makes them sound ALOT brighter.

I've used it with DB many times. It's great. I'm one that loves using a big cab with DB &the 7 pro works wonders-DB & EB > 7 pro> NV412.

OFTEN I have smaller gigs tho & use 2 112"s with the 7 pro.
Never had a problem getting a great sound.

it's in here somewhere. ;)

Yes, but I don't think it made past page 2 :bawl:

My GB STM-600 comes in tomorrow and I don't have anything to read...LOL ;)

Seriously though your new amp is a nice sounding amp. I just hope this one will serve me well. It will be replacing my GK 700 RBII (hopefully) that I really love but tired of lugging 16 lbs to practice to use with a friends old Acoustic 2 x 15 that he wired the two 8 ohm speakers in parallel and bypassed the internal amp so I could hook my amp direct (that was his call as I could have just used my amp's pre to it. He doesn't know that amps wattage but I don't remember those 70's accoustics as having more than 200-250 watts???? I don't have to lug my cab from the my house. If it works well It should fit in a large exterior padded pocket of my bass gig bag that carries my cables, bass and tuner. I have been reading posts that state putting a 12AU7 in Position 2 makes the mids work more normal...I may try that at some point if I find the need.
