NAD! SVT7 Pro (also comparing it to my Streamliner 900)

How did you like the clips JohnK made with his various basses ? He gave quite a taste of what the amp sounds like.
As for the 610HLF, I couldn't say, as I prefer sealed cabs and have little experience with vented. I'd say give ot a try before buying.
My 2 cents, but I think you'll get more useful advise from other!

This is really helping a scatter brain like me dial in - Hey! u mention sealed cabs, yeah! - besides the 810 and the Berg is there any others u can recommend? I like bigger cabs (despite my age 56) and thought that the 610 HLF be just right for getting in the backseat - How bout this? Can u point me to a venue, or to some websites to monitor where used Berg 610 might occassionally show up?

The 610HLF is voiced with a bigger low end than what dudes like those you named off were using in their heydays, but it's not crazy low end like the 410HLF, just a little extra warmth. My favorite Ampeg cabs are voiced more like the 810e and 410he with more of a rolled off low end, but I also have a couple of PF115he's that have a low end similar to the 610HLF, and I enjoy using them for a change of pace sometimes.

JM - thx for your counsel. I am at heart a sealed cab guy. Having said that I thought that my old GK-400RB, 12 band EQ, and Guild/Hartke cab was pretty darn approx to my old svt.

If I can achieve 50% of the 810 and 50% of the 410 HLF - I think that would be ssweet! -----Would the BERG 610 be so vastly and dramatically different with the 7 PRO ???

I meant sonically it sounds like half 810e and half 410hlf, Rich, not built half and half. Apologies for the confusion there.

Look into the Berg NV412 if u can. More rounded tone, like the ones you mentioned liking, than the NV610. Sealed, not too big & handles all you can throw at it.
That with my 7 pro is mighty!

Size (H x W x D): 4.0 in (with feet) x 15.6 in x 11.5 in (with feet)

So I'm judging by your picture you didn't have much trouble fitting it in. Any issues with the depth of the amp? Does it stick out the back at all?

i read that too but it doesn't 'seem' to go into standby. it seems like it just turns it off. that said, mine's been left plugged in ever since i got it. ;)

as far as a great cab for the 7Pro, i can highly recommend a greenboy [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. IMO, it nails the 'old school' sound, yet is also capable of being more versatile than that. you can get one made that weighs anywhere from 37lbs (composite) to 60lbs (plywood w/heavy duty hardware). my custom built cab is very simialr to one and it weighs 46lbs. with 3015's (non Lf's), it does the sealed ampeg 810 thing really well. with faital 15PR400's, it does it too, but also has the ability to have more mids and highs.
