NAD! SVT7 Pro (also comparing it to my Streamliner 900)

as far as how the 3015's sound, i really like them. they don't really sound like what eminence's freq chart depicts. IMO, they're alot smoother than that. in my 215 cab, they sound pretty similar to a vintage SVT 810 (the ones with some mids and highs), but with a bit more low end punch.

Hey guys. Here is a recording from Tuesday at band practice, first time using the 7 Pro.

Signal chain is Guild B-301 w/ Chromes -> Sanford and Sonny Bluebeard fuzz -> 7 Pro -> Berg NV610.

This was just taken with a little zoom so don't expect a mastered, leveled track. Just thought some of you guys might like to hear the amp with a whole band.

i've owned a 610HLF and i think it would be good with one ( although i prefer their 810). i'm not familiar with the 410 PN, but i had a 410HLF and i preferred the 610HLF over it. that said, IMO, a 7Pro would work well with just about any good sounding cab, i'd just get one that is capable of handling some real power since the 7Pro has ALOT of power on tap.

I have not spent much time with the 610HLF, and I've never tried it with the 7Pro, but I was able to spend a good bit of time with the PN-410HLF and the Heritage SVT-410HLF. Those are drastically different enclosures. The Pro Neo is more balanced, controlled, clear and articulate, while still being fairly warm. The SVT-410HLF is big, round, woolly and not as clear and articulate, by comparison.

As always, it all depends on what you are after, but the 7Pro/PN-410 setup is very flexible and can do a wide variety of tones quite well.

The only Ampeg shop in my country doesn't have the PN410 nor the 610HLF at the moment so I'll have to just pick up the 7Pro and wait 1-2 months for them to get the next shipment of gear...

I'll probably end up getting some G&L bass instead of the cab tomorrow... :p

Another convert. Mine showed up- after rehearsing it for four hours I'm totally sold. For the tone I'm after there is no comparison with the GB Streamliner. To me and my ear it is more present, more articulate, while being as warm if not warmer than the SL. Huge low end on it as well (actually was cutting lows similar to the SL, although not for the same reasons). Everyone in the band loved it which is important to me as well. Very versatile as well- the compression is very subtle and usable- I only put it on a smidge but it does the job while not sounding funky. Played reggae, classic country, rock, blues, boogie woogie, and funk through it in one night and never really spun a dial other than rolling on and off on my P bass.

I don't know how to describe the difference between these two amp- my instinct is to say that the SVT 7 sounds like the real deal while the Streamliner sounds like it's trying to be the real deal. Sounds goofy even writing that but that's my take. Much more musical, present without sound brittle or too clean, and very warm. The gain stage is super usable as well and while I don't think it gets nearly as gnarly as the SL can I think it's perfect for dialing in a little 70's tube driven warmth.

I may change my opinion over the next months worth of gigs and rehearsals but so far this thing makes me feel like I've found home again.
