NAD (with a bonus!)

Of course there's a story!

So, I ordered a Walrus Audio Phoenix power supply for my pedal board and GC sends me a 230V version... I live in the U.S. :meh:

So, I decided I'm going to head over to GC after dinner and return it and have them send me a new one (they don't carry them in the local stores). I mention this to the wife and she says "Mind if I come with?"

:cautious: This is a new development.... She never wants to go to any music stores with me, but heck, I'm not one to complain about good company! "Sure!"

So, we head there and while I am returning/ reordering my PS, my wife wanders off. I didn't think much of it.

Just as I was finishing up, she came skipping back over to me. We headed out and as we got into the car and started to pull away, she said "Oh no! I forgot my sunglasses, I must have put them down while I was looking around, can you pull up to the door and I'll run in and get them?"

I pull up to the door and instead of getting out, she turns to me and plants a huge hug and kiss on me and squeals out "Happy early anniversary, baby!". I looked over her shoulder to see a GC employee carrying out a box with a new Ampeg BA-115!

:wideyed: "how..... how did... How did you know that was what I was looking for?"

"I was watching you while you were surfing bass porn (what she calls it when I check TB) last night and saw that you kept looking up the specs and prices of that amp and I wanted to buy it for you before you bought it for yourself."

THEN, while the guy is putting it in the car for me, she tells me that she's ear-marked the money for the custom order of the G&L 5 String PJ (when they finally make one!) that I've been GASing for so badly!!!! :bassist::hyper::bassist::hyper:

I am a lucky man. Thanks to whoever is watching out for me up there!

Awesome story and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! You got a good "one" (wife)!
I know it's not the same caliber but I had a BA108 and really liked it.

Congratulations on having a great wife!

Oh, and congrats on the new amp!

I would be remiss if I did not sing the praises of my lovely and generous wife, too. Every Christmas and birthday she now asks what guitar, bass, amp and accessories I'd like. I used to make Wish Lists on some online stores, but she's knocked them out such that any gas attack I might get now is small and soon passes. I really don't even have time to play with, and learn all the features of, all that I have already!

The fact that her embroidery and quilting hobby costs much more than my musical projects may have a little bit to do with it. Have you priced the top 'o the line embroidery machines, of which she has a few. And the quilting machine & software? Fuhgeddaboutit!! Not to mention the constant fabric and patterns, etc. Come to think of it, she's a pretty lucky gal!

My wife and I were involved in Medieval re-creation for almost 20 years. Costuming, weaving and embroidery are a big part of it. So yes, I do have a good idea of the expenses involved even when much of it is done by hand.

Did you ever hear 3 embroidery machines all running at once in frantic preparation for a show? And then only handwork being done at the show? As if!

Sewing machines, yes but in the Medieval Re-creation world all work submitted for competition had to be completely executed by hand or period-correct machines or hand tools. Anything created using modern machinery (with very few exceptions) was penalized and thus rarely won.

Thanks!

Already got the rest covered  We'll be spending next week in a suite here:

Boom..literally and figuratively (with the new amp) I wish my wife did something like that for me. Instead, I go trade my gear in to get something, and she wants me to buy her something she'll never play, for a couple hundred bucks, and gets mad when I say I don't have any extra money for it. She goes, "well how much is on that card?" Enough to get what I'm getting. Ha. Women suck sometimes. Not yours, yours rocks.
