Of course there's a story! 
So, I ordered a Walrus Audio Phoenix power supply for my pedal board and GC sends me a 230V version... I live in the U.S.
So, I decided I'm going to head over to GC after dinner and return it and have them send me a new one (they don't carry them in the local stores). I mention this to the wife and she says "Mind if I come with?"
This is a new development.... She never wants to go to any music stores with me, but heck, I'm not one to complain about good company! "Sure!"
So, we head there and while I am returning/ reordering my PS, my wife wanders off. I didn't think much of it.
Just as I was finishing up, she came skipping back over to me. We headed out and as we got into the car and started to pull away, she said "Oh no! I forgot my sunglasses, I must have put them down while I was looking around, can you pull up to the door and I'll run in and get them?"
I pull up to the door and instead of getting out, she turns to me and plants a huge hug and kiss on me and squeals out "Happy early anniversary, baby!". I looked over her shoulder to see a GC employee carrying out a box with a new Ampeg BA-115!
"how..... how did... How did you know that was what I was looking for?"
"I was watching you while you were surfing bass porn (what she calls it when I check TB) last night and saw that you kept looking up the specs and prices of that amp and I wanted to buy it for you before you bought it for yourself."
THEN, while the guy is putting it in the car for me, she tells me that she's ear-marked the money for the custom order of the G&L 5 String PJ (when they finally make one!) that I've been GASing for so badly!!!!
I am a lucky man. Thanks to whoever is watching out for me up there!

I decided that I would practice through this amp last night so I set the EQ to flat, plugged in, powered up, gave a bit of volume and...
woah
I did not expect that sound from something smaller than my Ampeg stack... heck, smaller than my Fender stack! I found that, without my preamp or any of my effects on, it has a really nice range of tones that you can find. With all the EQ at max, you can almost feel the engine revving as it gets ready to kick into overdrive!
Then I engaged the on-board Scrambler OD circuit and slowly started to bring up the drive at a 50/50 blend. Oh my. What a sweet sound! Such a transparent and ballsy OD that, with the built in blend, overcomes the tendency of OD's to strip out the lows and low mids. I'd never given the Scrambler OD pedal a second thought. I will be sampling one with my board setup as soon as I get back from vacation!
Once I engaged my pre-amp and started cycling through my pedals to hear how the amp would handle them, I realized that this wasn't some little joke of a practice amp, this amp is very viable to gig with. The wedge shape allows it to serve as your own monitor and the DI out to FOH is no different than how I run my Ampeg or Fender stacks now. I likely won't use this amp alone on stage but will definitely use it as a nice wedge torest my foot on reinforce the sound with.
Overall, I love this new addition to the stable!
