I didn't read through all the post. I don't believe there bands that everybody likes. But ones that masses like.

They get my vote - for the most liked during their recording/performing years. I can’t recall meeting anyone that didn’t like them back then. Even now, except for some on TB , whenever their music is played or they are referenced it’s always warm feelings.
We used to put Throbbing Gristle on at closing time to clear out the record store in college.
Actually, don't think I've ever heard someone say they hate Abba, maybe not always in the mood for them, but never "hates" them, but something tells me we will find that person on this thread eventually....
I don't think there's any universal band that everyone likes. Most people like Queen. They were very talented obviously, but i hate everything they ever did. I used to like Bohemian Rhapsody but I'm sick to death of hearing it now.
Booker T and the MGs for the win! Seriously, it's impossible not to like them, so don't go there.
Leader of That band is the cornet player Shaye Cohn, I believe she's the granddaughter of the legendary Al Cohn (the sax player and arranger for Artie Shaw and many others) She plays piano too which probably has helped her curatorial work with the old arrangements. Watching how she signals the soloists is a great joy to me, plus we both play a Yamaha 232 silver plated long cornet, the first "student" cornet Yamaha accidentally made a superior quality instrument because an American (Ren Schilke) designed it as good as a Schilke. (like the original EB Sterlings or so I'v read)
I think Lake Street Dive has the broadest appeal I have seen. little kids, the elderly, jazz heads, music nerds, dancers...
