I don't think it was particular song, but rather seeing Yes play live in the early 70s and feeling the bass in my chest - I could see it was bass that was the most impressive sound!

Having read this thread and people mentioning Cream reminds me that I had "Badge" as a single and it is totally dominated by the bass line and was probably a big influence, as well as the fact that the first bass line I ever tried playing was "Sunshine of Your Love"?

I don't have any one song. I had been wanting to pick up an instrument but couldn't decide which one was for me. But gaining an interest in Ska/Punk music solidified my want to play bass. I think bass suits my personality and any other instrument just seems uncomfortable.

Erm blink 182 made me want to learn an instrument :| I had a friend who played guitar so i thought "id go for one of those guitars with the longer necks" haha

he taught me the korn riff blind and few months later i got my first bass

its funny how both bands are worlds apart

Some bass-driven songs spoke to me over the years I was playing guitar, such as Quiet Riot's 'Metal Health' and Van Halen's 'Push Come To Shove'.

But the song (and video) that nudged me over to the 4-string world was Iron Maiden's 'Run to the Hills'. Steve Harris' speedy runs (after the solo) is what made me plunk down the cash for my my first bass rig.
