If you're so against college, why are you going?
Who said anything about being AGAINST COLLEGE????? I am currently ATTENDING college. What I am against is frivolous studies. And, yes, in my opinion (let's get that out of the way), women's studies, gender studies, race studies, et al are a waste of valuable resources, time, energy, effort etc. There are literally thousands of students graduating every year who can't find a job. All I am saying is that if you continue to study things that aren't MARKETABLE SKILLS, then don't be surprised. It's not the market's fault for "not getting you". It's that you learned useless "skills" to begin with. I know a girl who recently graduated with a degree in art history. According to her, the world should just "create" a position for people with degrees because they put forth the effort and completed their studies. Gimme a break.
Now, if YOU have plenty of money, and want to blow YOUR money on whatever classes you desire, go for it. But to blow tax-payer dollars for such useless crap is immature, irresponsible, unrealistic, and ridiculous. (Need I say once again "in my opinion"?) If we disagree, fine. I'm not pissed. Why should you be?
College is not trade school. The liberal education model is predicated on a holistic educational experience that, yes, includes the humanities or "frivolous" courses. The idea is to teach you how to think. While you may not immediately see marketable skills coming from these courses, they do you teach you abstract thinking skills. They're not simply telling you that one group of people have been treated badly as you so simply and wrongly put it. There are a lot of theoretical, literary, and philosophical underpinnings in those types of courses. Read some of Foucault's writing on human sexuality and see if you haven't expanded your ability to read abstract text and think in a different way.
And while I personally wouldn't major in a humanity or liberal art discipline, they can lead to gainful employment. It's called graduate school, and going there will greatly increase your chances of having a career in one of those disciplines. Some disciplines require education beyond an undergraduate degree to obtain gainful employment in those areas. That doesn't mean you should denigrate those majors the way you have in this thread. You don't major in pre-med and then become a doctor when you graduate. You have to go to medical school. You don't major in pre-law, take the bar, and then become an attorney. You have to get a J.D. after your bachelor's. And you don't major in women's studies and then become a scholar of women's studies. You have to go to grad school.

I don't completely disagree with you but it seems you jumped the OP for taking a feminism course. That was apparently enough to set you off, sending you on a tirade about how he's going to end up working in a fast food restaurant. The OP never said he was majoring in feminism or anything about continuing to take such courses so I'm curious how you came to that conclusion.
Anyways, you're in college. You're going to have to fulfill your humanities requirement or already have. For the most part, no humanities course is going to teach you any practical, marketable skills.
P.S. I do agree with you. I've said it many times on this very site: if you're going to spend the money and make the effort to go to college, it's in your best interest to pick a major that's going to get you a return on your investment. At the same time, I'm not going to belittle someone for not taking that advice to heart...it is a free country.

I know 5 art students who are currently (combined) over $250,000 in debt for various things (student loans, etc.). The majority of their friends, from what I understand, are in a similar boat.
I'm glad for your friend that she is the exception.
Average student debt for college graduates last year was $27k.
Your friends probably shouldn't have bought boats.
Edit: My sister in law is very exceptional. While in college she bought some old homes. They were beautiful 100 year old houses but run down and in some kind of rough areas. She rented the rooms to other art students. As part of the rent they would use their "unmarketable" skills to help fix up the houses. Then she would sell them for a handsome profit, making money for herself, helping her friends and helping to renovate and preserve a great part of our history. When she graduated she had sold 6 homes and owned a 6 unit apartment building that I think she still operates.
