No, I normally call them by their model designation. I did when I was younger but the cold, hard world has stripped me off all my youthful imagination 
If I had to think of names real quick for this thread, I would pick "Basscephus" for my newest bass and "Robert William Dutch" (or Bob) for my older one

People who give names to inanimate objects scare me.
This sentiment is oft repeated whenever this topic makes its seasonal recurrence, but there are other far more compelling reasons to be scared of us. I can't even look in the mirror anymore.

Frank77, I'm with you. I don't understand why people give names to their guitars, cars, body parts, etc. That said, my family occasionally would call the house we lived in "Big Ug" because it was big and ugly.
Oh, I do have a bass that my luthier calls "Lazarus" because it was trashed and he brought it back from the dead.

Everytime I ponder a name for a bass I cant help but feel a lot silly. I do have an old 66 Ford F100 named ol' blue. 
Not sure how that even happened but it stuck!
