NAMM 2012 Megathread....

GK Fusion800 was cool, and the Genz product line is smoking. Not much new from Markbass in their bass line. F1 and F500 replaced by Big Bang.

DNA head was feature packed. Didn't play it but was not impressed with the build quality and feel.

Tecamp new Puma line is Amazing! Played the new lighter weight Glock. Basically a revision of the Soul head. A little smaller and lighter with a bit more power.

The Fodera and Alleva booths are packed with amazing basses!

I don't know if it's identical circuit-wise. I do know it's a 100w amp at 8 ohms instead of 150w at 8 like the Micro VR, but it's non-expandable, so I imagine it's a different amp.

I see. It's probably pretty different, then!

I've come to love the Micro VR! I don't own one, but a friend's studio has one that I plug into for recording once in a while- it's so legit sounding for something I long regarded as a "toy". Great amp!

They are going to sell a boatload of those.

At least they tech 21 is attempting to listen after the whole debate about their amps wattage. Personally I'll stick w/ their pedals live and rack pre for my studio. hope this does well for them . . .

Yeah even as recently as a month ago they were on this forum defending thier choice to offer this amp at a maximum of 300 watts, and basically insulting and deriding those of us who tried to tell them they were basically dooming the product to failure by offering such a weak power section...the Tech21 guy came on the thread and said something like "well... we work with the top touring bassists in the world, and none of them are using more than 300 watts, so you guys are obviously crazy asking for 1000 watts... that's UNHEARD OF..." We tried to explain to him that.... the point is we the buyers ARE NOT the top touring professionals in the world... we're the OTHER 97% of the bass playing population... and we dont have the luxury of being supported by a $200K Meyer Sound or Clair Bros PA every single night like the people they're getting advice from... so we need a bit more than the "absurdly loud" 300 watts on offer...The also resfused to believe there were other companies offering high quality integrated bass heads with nearly FOUR TIMES that much wattage for LESS MONEY... They seemed 100% TOTALLY out of touch with the market and competition... which, no matter how good the products are today, signals the eventual demise of an amp maker.... I've seen it too many times. The fact that they ultimately heeded our advice is a good sign, but it sure would be nice if Mr Smart Guy Tech21NYC would pop in to that other thread and apologize...

The entire 300 Vs 1000 watts thing was ridiculous and I mean both sides of the argument. They could just take the 300 watt head and advertise it as 1000 watt and 90% of the people who buy it would never know the difference. Its just like Auto makers and the Horse Power wars of the 60s. The price is pretty ridiculous though and after 2 months of owning a VT bass pedal I wasnt all that impressed with the tone vs price on that either, Sounded way to processed to me.

Got one packed up for my gig tonight. Been moving the SVT lately and I'm taking a break on this one ;)

+1 on all counts.

And yeah, the "I know what you want better than you do" attitude in that thread left a bad taste in my mouth, although I've never really been a user of their products anyway, I don't even consider them now.

Word to people trying to sell us stuff....a condescending attitude gets you nowhere.

Is that identical circuit-wise to the Micro VR? If so, how did they get the price down so much?!? That would be awesome - one for every room!!!! :bassist:

...except the bathroom,.. that would be counter-productive. ;-)

The power amp might be a single hybrid module, since those will make 100W (Studio 110 uses one to get 75W). That lowers the development/production cost a fair amount.

Is the Bassman 300 Pro the only newish Fender amp there (along with the Pro cabinets)?

Behringer 3 year warranty across the board.
Same warranty, which is typically exchange with the receipt.

Sweetwater adds an extra year to the warranty, a iNuke for $200 will have a 4 year warranty. The first 3 as exchange and worst you'd have to pay shipping 1-way.

Finally, the 1 year warranty was just not pro.
Some other manufacturers are really going to need to step up their warranties.

I went to the Ampeg room, played a Heritage SVT-CL through a Heritage 810. After that, nothing else in that room mattered.
Why you...I oughta...

Been looking for a reason not to get one of them. Other than the schlep, I'm stumped. Oh sure, I have a Blue Line and a 73 810, but it's not new and it doesn't have black sparkle grillcloth ;)

I had my guitar player with me who is also an amp builder and pretty critical of tone. The way he put it was it wasn't so much the way the notes come at the attack (which was wonderful) but the way the seem to bloom afterwards.

I'm now saving my pennies ...

Anything new from Mesa?

They did not attend. My 'hits of the show'

TecAmp Puma 500/900... Small, powerful, wonderful

Genz Shuttle 6.2 12t combo. Small, light, full, loud. The 9.2 Max and Streamliner continue at the top of the category

Epifani Piccolo (warm and fat ) and 501 (crisp, modern, powerful) are great improvements over the earlier amps. Super quality and feel and tone

GK MBFusion800... Impressive tone, features and wump per pound
