Narrowest String Spacing Bridge - Help Needed!

A bass is not a guitar. I also have a narrowed bridge on my basses, but there is a happy medium. The bridges on my basses are @ 17mm center-to-center. If you go too narrow, you risk scuffing strings and not being able to play cleanly. Please reconsider adjusting to a 17mm spacing, since not only will it be easier to find a bridge, but as you develop your bass technique it will be much easier to articulate cleanly.

The neck on my bass is too narrow to allow that unfortunately.

What individual bridge pieces can go below 16mm? So far I've only found the Babicz FCH-1 which go down to 15.2mm and there's also the Ibanez MR4 of course, like on the GV models but it doesn't seem like they sell them separately.

There are no written rules set in stone when it comes to electric bass string spacing. It's a matter of personal preference just like action and string gauge. You say you use 17mm, (which is definitely narrower than average) and in my case I prefer it narrower than that (though standard wider spacings aren't necessarily a problem for me) . In fact, Höfners are between 14mm and 14.5mm and plenty of very capable players ("a few" of them pretty well known individuals) play them without any problems.

TL;DR- Is there a 4 String bridge that goes down to 16mm or less without going to individual bridge pieces?

the Kahler 2440/7440 is adjustable and goes incredibly narrow if needed.

^^^This. I have a Kahler bridge on my Modulus Graphite Quantum-6 SPX and the string spacing center-to-center is 13.97mm (!)

I think the point was just because someone prefers or plays with narrow spacing doesn't mean they're necessarily going to develop bad technique.

Who said anything about "slavishly" copying anyone? If you are referring to the höfner, I just used it as an example of an instrument with a very narrow string spacing used by many talented (and some well known) players in different genres. Just look them up and then come back and tell me they have "poor technique and are not versatile" because their string spacing is less than yours.
