Btw He never said LAKLANDS > FENDER, from what I understand he said that CS copies of his red 71 P bass are better.

I dont know if its was mentioned, but his 71 Pbass has special mix between Jazz/Precision neck, which have been made only for 6 months (see Nate Mendel fender video)

Yes, that's should be a HWY. the Honey Blonde nitro gives it away. It's an older model though with the headstock logo identical to AM. Standards.

I'm not a avid supporter of the road worn series but, from all that I've read and heard those basses seem to get good reviews. I have been wanting a candy apple red 70's p-bass for a long time now and this just might be the one I've been looking for. However I'll just have to wait and see how it exactly turns out when this model is released.

He uses both but treasures that CAR 71 that he has had his whole career. So it is not weird that he has that coming out as a signature bass.

Honestly I think Fender 100% has way too many signature basses. I think they should go back to the basics and offer a US Fender and a US jazz with options of fingerboard word, nut width and color. Then have the same (but maybe more limited options) available as MIM and then have the reissue series. Everything past that is overkill. If you want a Precision there are a bazillion options.

Rubbish. Read this thread, his interviews, and look at videos of live shows. He uses both Lakland and Fender, and recorded every Foo album until the last one on his CAR '71 Fender.

It's funny how people look down on those who overplay, and when someone truly serves the song, and not their egos, they're still looked down on. Obviously, Mendel has chops - but Foo Fighters has three guitarists, and IMO he plays what needs to be played.

Great band, incredible musicians. I'm not one for signature models, but I may give this a spin.

Never understood why anyone would not take normal good care of their instrument, quality tools are not cheap and their working order is depended on by others too.

Ridiculous? It's just a paint job, but on a very nice line of good sounding good feeling instruments, IMHO.

You have not played a well-setup Roadworn bass, I presume. So from one Dr. to another I advise a detailed examination before further diagnosis. Perhaps a second opinion, too? :D :D :D

Just can't quit using my Fiesta Red Roadworn Jazz...you can see from this pic to which generation I belong. The instrument sounds great and feels better than any Jazz I have ever owned, including a '68 and a 2001 60's classic.

Further more, I play this thing so much that significantly more nitro has worn off the body contour and back of the neck—though obviously the factory faux-mojo got it started. That's my kind of normal good care!

To be honest, I look forward to trying the new Nate Mendel model. I doubt I'll buy one, though, as I already have a '71 P-bass 3tsb that is pretty darn roadworn (by yours truly) and sounds great. I take care of them—by making sure to play them more than I polish them!!! :ninja: hahahahahhahahaha :bassist:
