NBA Playoffs

Ha ha! I see the refs trying to give this game away to Orlando with that BS tech on Perkins (who I happen to hate, but still recognize that was a FARCE of a call). Who knows how big of a pain he's been during the series, that stuff chips away at refs (ie; Tim Duncan vs Joey Crawford), but this kind of stuff doesn't take away from Donaghy's accusations.

Not taking anything away from the Magic either, they look to be on track to winning this game anyways. BS calls are BS calls though.

But he's been a tool throughout the playoffs. He had been involved in FOUR double technicals in the postseason (and had five technicals total himself) before tonight, so he's managed to piss off quite a few refs--not just the ones in this series. I'm not saying the second T was right in this case, but he's done a great job of setting himself up for this.

You know, the Celtics played a pretty good game, especially considering it was five on eight...
With 41 seconds left, the Magic have taken 5 more FTs and Boston has been called for 6 more fouls. Orlando is winning by 19 points. Care for some cheese with that?

The refs have been disgustingly one-sided in this game (the series has been fairly evenhanded), at least during the quarter and a half that I watched.

Orlando has a couple totally terrifying three point shooters, though. They earned about 75% of this game.

I'd love some Swiss, if you've got it.;)

Maki, game started at 8:30 ET.

That's what I thought Greg. I haven't been watching the whole series, but what more really needs to be said about a guy who NBA players themselves voted as the #1 guy who thinks he's better than he is? (Actually, he tied with DeShawn Stevenson). I'm not gonna cry myself to sleep over it, but it was definitely a BS call and almost surely swayed the game.

Like I said, can't take away from Orlando's game, they live and die by the 3 and they got into rhythm tonight. Again, I think they would have won the game anyways, but the refs definitely helped.

I didn't see enough of tonight's game to judge, but unless one or both teams drastically altered their style of play, it's difficult for me to believe this game was reffed differently than the others. The home team's been called for fewer fouls and taken more free throws in every game in this series except Game 4, when the Magic won in Boston.

You'll take Vermont cheddar and like it.;)

Watched from start to finish...

...first of all, who's laughin' now? :)

Next, GIVE ME A BREAK, you cheese eaters (goes well with WHINE) remind me of the Vikings fans that are STILL crying about losing the NFCCG back in January.

There were questionable calls all around. I agree, the double technical on Perkins was crap, but the good thing for the Celtics is that the NBA can (and SHOULD) rescind at least one if not both calls - I think they were both crap.

What I really hope for is Glen Davis to be OK, that was SCARY...and I don't want to hear any crap about Howard "hacking" anyone, because his arm was dragged down by a Celtics player to hit Davis. Just a bad luck play for Big Baby....who I really like, and hope is playing Friday night.

Is that Vermont cheddar the white stuff, the super sharp stuff? I like that stuff...

;)

This is my take on it as well. Orlando was in control all night and hitting 3's at an unbelievable clip.

As a matter of fact, the first T was cheesier than the first. Both will be recinded by the league, Perkins will play Friday. Davis is probably out until next year.

The refs are human - the key is to not get yourself into a position were they can really mess you up. That said, when a ref inserts himself into the game (and series) in such a meaningful way and his calls get reversed, there needs to be some consequence for that.

wow. looks like i picked the wrong game to miss. the recap reads like a hockey game...

It's not QUITE that bad! ;) (...but close, almost reminded me of an old Pistons game! )

It was definitely entertaining to watch, and I really hope dangnewt is wrong, and Davis plays. I also agree with him, the Magic were essentially in control for the whole game, and the few calls that were questionable didn't change the eventual outcome - by halfway through the first quarter it was clear they were on a mission, and wouldn't be stopped.

I hope I'm wrong too; but he got whacked and went down like he just took a punch from that guy that sells electric grills.

If the NBA wants to get cute, it will review the game, give Pierce a flagrant for the extra shove on Reddick (which in true blue Duke fashion, he was whining about as he was still sliding on the floor, :rollno:) then recind both of Perkins' fouls.

It would also be nice if Commissioner Stern has a talk with the refs before Friday's game to chill out a bit and let the guys play and decide it on the court.

Celtics had a little better balanced offense last night but need to solve the double pick-and-roll. I think that they will make the adjustments. Plus do not discount the leprechauns at the Gard-en.

If the Magic want to win, I think that Vince Carter needs to play at least 45 minutes. :D

Yeah, what happened to Davis was scary looking...when he started stumbling down the court......I got a bit sick to my stomach, you didn't get the full intensity of what happened in "real time", it didn't become apparent until the slo-mo replay. Man, he went down like a sack of potatoes, very frightening. I hope it's nothing too serious....maybe he'll be back for game 7...

:ninja:

;)

As for the call on the Reddick/Pierce play - fact is that Pierce DID push him after the whistle, so he will collect a flagrant 1 for it. As for Reddick "lobbying", hey, isn't that part of the game? ;) I saw Pierce draw some pretty cheesy fouls, and I ain't gonna whine, it's part of the game! I agree with rescinding the calls on Perkins - both of them were garbage (they WERE fouls, just no need for the T on either, and the ejection was uncalled for because of it).

I agree, let 'em play...because I like the Magic's chances if they do - they're the more physical team overall! :smug:

Vince Carter has been almost a non-issue in this series, so I don't think he needs any extra time to make a difference. What the Celtics need to figure out is what to do about Jameer Nelson, he's KILLING them with his quick penetration moves...if they go to cover him, Howard is loose (and ain't that fun? :D ), if they don't, they can't cover him one-on-one and he burns them. Good luck solving that issue...

I'm REALLY looking forward to the game tomorrow night! :hyper:

that game was perfect for the magic. maybe they finally got my letters about obnoxious celtics fans making fun of me.:p

The reason there was a 19 point difference(i think its 19) was because the best 3 point shooting team in history finally started
playing like they were the best 3 point shooting team in history.

But even as a Magic fan i agree that both of those technicals were a little out of line, and the NBA will probably deal with that. But pierce definitely needs a flagrant for what he did. I also feel really bad for Davis and actually kinda like the guy and hope he gets better cause that was a nasty hit.

This game was for all the ESPN analysts calling the series after the first 3 games saying the only good thing that could happen for the Magic was this series ending.

This is definitely a VERY interesting playoffs and im looking forward to watching the Suns vs. Lakers game tonight, Kobe has really been carrying the lakers and if they want to win this they need to play like last year and get everyone involved and have a much better D. I really dont get how Phil cant figure out how to attack a zone defense its really starting to bug me, theyd be up atleast a game if he knew what he was doing.

I think that Phil's 10 championship rings indicate that he kind of has an idea of how to coach in playoff games. Tonight is the most important game of the series for both teams. If the Lakers go back to pounding the ball inside, the bench players step up like they did in games 1 and 2 and play inspired defense, they'll get the victory. Besides, history is on their side. Having Kobe and Pau doesn't hurt either! :D Go Lakers!!!

A Groove is a Terrible Thing to Waste!
