NBB....Fender Professional Sonic Grey!

So I decided to pull the trigger on another bass for the arsenal and it arrived today!

My primary 3 Basses are:

Fender Vintage USA 70's Hot Rod Jazz in Deep Red which I slapped a black pickguard on and replaced the stock pickups with EMG Geezers.

Fender Adam Clayton Signature USA Jazz in Sherwood Green which I slapped a black pickguard on.

Fender Custom Shop USA Silverburst with a black pickguard, Dimarzio DP123 pickups, Fender's version of a Bad Ass Bridge and a '75 RI Jazz Neck.

I wanted another Jazz and I'm not a fan of the "Elite" series. I was digging the Sonic Grey idea so I went for it. It plays incredible! The newly designed pickups sound killer so I'm going to leave them. In fact, all I'm going to do is slap a black pickguard on and leave her alone!

Side note: the new Fender case is incredible! Fits like a glove!

Beautiful. 'Grats.

I like the robust bridge they're using on that model, a beautifully designed and executed piece of kit. I see that it also comes with Fender's new light weight tuners, which are really nice as well. Can't tell by your pics but if that case is the same as what came with the USA Dimension basses, it's one of the nicest cases I've ever seen.

Sweet color, too. I get the vibe Fender is going for with that finish..."understated, yet different"...it works for me in a non-bling way.

+1 vote for a matte black guard.

So....I took off the stock pickguard and went to put the black one on and a funny thing happened....I actually liked white pearl better!

Sweet looking bass! Love the color. And,yes, it's begging for a black guard.

No, not at all, two fingers.

The future-to- be- put-on-pickguard is begging to be, according to the enthusiasm shown here in TB in any pickguard thread discussion,....
standard brick red tort.

C'mon, who's with me!? <arms waving>

C'mon..lets hear it!! <roaring chants>

Gawd, I can already hear the thunderous, trampling hooves running to the tort farm to get it on that sweet new bass of the OP's.

oh, yeah.....

Here is mine folks. Almost waited to pull the trigger on maple. But it's still not in stock on sweetwater and I truly wanted rosewood. Sonic grey with Maple will make me drool if I see it in the wild. I love this thing and there is no regrets getting it over a Am Std. in sunburst. The new case/color had me sold from the beginning. (first american made bass)

Had it about 3 weeks now

Edit: sweetwater has a Sonic Grey, Maple in stock. Go get it TB!

I was getting ready to order that AP Jazz bass in the exact color scheme you chose. I really liked the look and sound of the AP until I compared it to the Elite.

IMHO, when I compared the two, the Elite had a great range and smoothness to the tones that to me sounded better than the AP. I really like the Elite's N4 pickups compared to the Mod V's of the AP. The Mod V's have a more mid range of tones and I couldn't really get the same range of sounds out of it, that I could with the Elite. With the Elite, I can get a defined trebly slap sound, to full bass thickness.

I also did not care for the new AP neck. Felt a bit awkward to me. A bit chunkier near the headstock. The Elite neck has a thinner "C" profile, and felt more comfortable in my hands.

I did not expect to like the Elite more, and especially didn't want to spend the additional money for it over the AP. But this why they offer so many different models. You need to find what suits your style and feel the best. The AP is a great bass I'm sure you will be very happy with it.
Yep, different strokes. I prefer the AP. Just sayin..
