NBB...Let's Call It An Aero-Franken-Dyne

This is a new bass build and it's my take on the Aerodyne. I had never seen an Aerodyne with a maple/maple neck, so I decided to build one. This started with a loaded Japanese dolphin grey metallic Aerodyne non-export body and I added a Mighty Mite maple/maple precision neck. The tuners are Hipshot Ultralites. In order to tie the maple neck in with the cream-colored binding on the body, I replaced to stock black pickguard with a brushed gold pickguard that looks exactly like gold anodized aluminum, but is actually plastic. The whole package weighs in at a perfectly balanced 8 lbs 2oz and I'm liking it a lot so far.

Sharp! Don't let that thing fall! (A bead or two of construction adhesive under the back .... totally invisible will hold that thing snug to even the most irregular of surfaces.)

I don't keep it there for long. A couple of pics and it's off of there.

The body came from Stratosphere. You probably saw it on ebay.

Slightly off topic, but how long was the turnaround between buying and delivery from Stratosphere?

There is plenty of gold-colored hardware out there including the jazz control plate, though not in brushed gold. Besides, I love those Aerodyne hat-shaped knobs and they're kind of a satin chrome. For now at least , I'll keep the gold and chrome mix.

I ordered last Friday night and had it by yesterday Thursday evening. I bought it from their website rather than through ebay. I had a 10% discount coupon which won't work on ebay.

My pickguard came from fxguitarman1 on eBay. It won't fit a regular jazz, however, because it's cut for a split p pickup. They might be able to make one for a regular jazz.
