NBBD - They sent me the wrong bass!

Nice bass, with all the proper design elements of a truly professional 5-string: headstock 2+3 to keep the B string from binding; good proportions to the neck and upper horn to balance; proper soapbar pickups to bring out all the tone, instead of tubby P-Bass or grindy J-bass pickups that don't bring out all of the extended range of a 5-string; proper contouring of the top for better ergonomics; and it appears it has a superlative preamp.

New Birthday Bass Day!

Sooooo, I ordered a bass for my birthday; 65 this weekend (first person to call me a Senior Citizen gets a silver sneaker up their a$$). Everything seems okay, at first. I mean, you can see from the picture that it clearly says "Fender" on the box, right?

But when I open it up, I find this inside! :wideyed:

That's right, they sent me an MTD 535 instead! I'm outraged! Outraged, I say! I mean, I guess in hindsight this does explain why the bass was more expensive than I expected, but I figured it was because shipping has gotten so pricey lately. ;)

And then I read the description and it gets even worse! Mahogany body, tiger myrtle top, maple neck with morado fingerboard, new proprietary MTD bridge, pickups, and preamp. Ugh!

I guess I'll have to keep it.

Seriously, it plays, sounds, and feels amazing! I'm pretty darn happy.

That's the most stunning Fender I've ever seen!! Heck, I'd actually consider buying one, if this is what comes in the box.. :roflmao:

I would demand they send the original box assuming this is a new Bass. Resale is better if you have all the original packaging.
Perhaps, but this came from overseas. No way I'm going to try and clear an empty box thru customs. Probably trigger some kind of red flag with Dept of Homeland Security. (Of course, if I order an MTD box, maybe they'll fill it with something from the Fender Custom Shop. Ya know; just so nobody thinks there's something unusual about it. ;))

I've heard that scammers focus on the elderly . . . They are supposedly easier targets.
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: Well played. Almost spit coffee on my screen!

Well a P-bass, of course! But they look so much alike that you can see how I might have mistaken one for the other when I clicked/dragged it into my shopping cart. Hmmm... maybe if I put a tort pick guard on it....

Isn't the whole thing a yellow/tan tort?
