NBBD - They sent me the wrong bass!

New Birthday Bass Day!

Sooooo, I ordered a bass for my birthday; 65 this weekend (first person to call me a Senior Citizen gets a silver sneaker up their a$$). Everything seems okay, at first. I mean, you can see from the picture that it clearly says "Fender" on the box, right?

But when I open it up, I find this inside! :wideyed:

That's right, they sent me an MTD 535 instead! I'm outraged! Outraged, I say! I mean, I guess in hindsight this does explain why the bass was more expensive than I expected, but I figured it was because shipping has gotten so pricey lately. ;)

And then I read the description and it gets even worse! Mahogany body, tiger myrtle top, maple neck with morado fingerboard, new proprietary MTD bridge, pickups, and preamp. Ugh!

I guess I'll have to keep it.

Seriously, it plays, sounds, and feels amazing! I'm pretty darn happy.
That is a lovely looking bass. Much nicer than a red Fender IMHO.

You didn’t mention if you actually ordered a Fender but either way, very nice! BTW, I’m 69 & even though I have 6 basses, I still get the Jones for something I don’t have!

Gotta feel sorry for the poor guy that received the bass that you had expected instead of the bass he paid for.
No worries. That other guy is a jerk anyway. Trust me; I know him. ;)

I'd feel kinda cheesy carrying a nice bass like that around in a soft case.
Some of the MTD hard cases are quite formidable and a bit intimidating. They attract immediate attention when you carry one into an open mic night jam; like people expect you might suddenly pull out a tripod and mount an RPG to it. I prefer the stealth of a nice, padded bag.

However, when Mick and the boys finally decide to drop that loser Darryl Jones and hire me for their next world tour, I'll probably pick up a hard shell case.
