It's almost 2020. Would you have thought a 1975 fender was vintage in the year 2000?I'm not trying to insult you, I've got a 94 Squier series Jazz, and never thought of it as vintage. Good find either way regardless of technicalities
Hi cataract
Yep! CN3XX XXX => C = Cor- Tek (Cort factory) N = Nineties 3 = 93
greetings

Guess I never thought about it like that. It might also just be a "Golden age" thing. One could continue the argument, but I I've mostly only thought of CBS and pre-cbs fenders as vintage. Acoustic guitar players t tend to not think of a guitar as vintage unless it's pre-war, violinists unless it were made in Cremona at some point hundreds of years ago.It's almost 2020. Would you have thought a 1975 fender was vintage in the year 2000?
Also, here are some comparison shots with my ‘97 black label P. Didn’t bust out the measuring instruments but as you can see, the Squier’s contouring is a tad different from the MIM’s.

I’m feeling the same way. Going to keep the original guard on it and steer clear of the router.I very much like it as it. I wouldn't go router crazy on a MIK myself. Pickup, maybe a bridge upgrade if you really want it and a some good strings. See what you think about it after that.
Picked up a well worn ‘93 MIK Squier Precision for a ridiculously low price.
Can’t wait to throw probably 3x the cost worth of mods on it!

This’ll probably turn into a progress thread so STAY TUNED for the obscenity that’s sure to ensue!
Plot Twist: I took my old red Precision to practice last week & realized that it’s all the P I really need— after weighing the overall costs of planned upgrades to the cream Squier, I decided to return it and put the money towards a brand new Squier 70’s Jazz.View attachment 3484257
With the return credit + my Guitar Center employee discount, this bad boy ended up costing me $80. Not too shabby. And it’ll be a killer look for the darkwave/post-punk project I just joined.
