when did they stop doing the 3 piece headstocks?

This one is from 2000, before they'd started doing the headstock wings again.

I put in the serial number today and it was actually produce in October 1998, but I guess the guy bought it from the store in 2000.

Either way, nice bass, great price. +1, switch up is the neck pup. Put a reissue Toaster top pup in the neck for vastly improved tone, . Congrats.

Anyone know if the year 2000 4003 basses still had the .0047 cap on the bridge pup? When was the .0047 cap bypass switch added?

If your 4003 has that cap, many folks add a push/pull switch to bypass it for deeper bridge tone.

They don't have the cap, as far as I know.

The cap came out back in the 80's, afaik. Truthfully, having the option to "kick it in" is alright, but I never use it.
