NBD- '51 Reissue Precision

I saw this on CL last night (after complaining that nothing good comes up on ATL CL) and swooped in to get it this afternoon.
It's a '93-'94 CIJ '51 reissue Precision bass.
What's so exciting is that it's not that taxicab yellow, but rather an actual blonde color.
Only problem is the SC hum. I plan on replacing it with a fralin split coil, but we'll see.

Wow, that bass is gorgeous. It almost looks like Mary Kay white. I agree the yellow is what puts me off these basses, but I have been interested in these since seeing The Sword's bassist use one.

Aye, the older 51 RIs are way better looking. They aren't that ridiculous school bus yellow! It's so hideous, I just can't understand why Fender can't get the blonde right anymore!

I admit, I love my "school bus" yellow '51RI (I re-named the color 'mango' on another site!) .... but I wish it was a bit lighter. Course, it has been said, the darker "mango" was supposed to represent what a early '50s P would look years later ..... it's seems close .... but a bit too much 'mango'.

About the hum ... stay away from your computer, TV, fluorescent lights.
Hard to do at times.

Beautiful bass. If they still made the RI in that color, and not the school bus yellow, it would so be on my GAS-list.

This is really none of my business, but DON'T replace the pickup with a split coil. You will lose the hum, but you'll lose some of the distinct sound as well. The bass will sound more like, well a split coil Precision.

Yeah, I think she'd look even better with a white pickguard(but that's my opinion). And I'll take'er off your hands too if you think the bass is not for you. I wouldn't mind another one that's not "mango/schoolbus yellow".
