NBD 56 P Crakercaster 456

Yeah, I'd be taking a rasp to those sharp corners... (well, no, I wouldn't, but...) ...then again, I feel the same way about the later / current Fender headstocks, give me the original Precision (tele) headstock any day.
Cool tele variant...and the board up top and from the 16th has got to be the coolest I've seen lately
Caught that also, what a neat idea! Would have been over the top if the tuners were designed to require a choke wrench!
Finally received my Crackercaster 456 from Guitar Repair of Tampa Bay. 1956 P style body. Florida cypress body, Florida ash neck, Florida rosewood fretboard. Finished with nitro. Hipshot ultralight tuners, Wilkinson bridge, Nordstrand 51P4S split side by side pickup. weight 7.5 pounds.

Harley - very nice build! Love the grain in that body, the unique fretboard, shotgun knobs and the fresh headstock shape.
Just one thing, for this to truly be considered an authentic Crackercaster you need to provide one more photo...
...a shot of it sitting in an unmowed front lawn on cement blocks! That would be a true "Hey y'all watch this, hold ma beer" moment!

very cool. i saw that bass while it was being made in their shop, and the pictures on facebook. great looking bass. LOVE the two-tone fretboard.

That's a great-looking bass, all the way around. And 7.5# w/ the cypress body- nice.
The 2-tone hardware matches the wood tones well, besides.
Knew someone that timbered a 'Branch' with some large cypress in it- should've got a section or 2, just didn't know if it would be good for a bass body or not, altho it's used alot for knees and frames in wooden boats, and is light weight for its strength.

Yes they brought Indian rosewood over in the 20's and 30's and planted a lot of them on golf courses. Now they are getting out of control and becoming invasive. A lot of them end up in the wood chipper.
