Loving the AVs. Are there threaded inserts for the bridge cover? I'm always concerned with those stripping over time but would especially not want to have to routinely toothpick/glue the holes on a $2k bass.

I had the '62 AVRI for a while - didn't like the back of the neck contour, so sold it, but it was a nice bass. I used a blue scotch-bright to get rid of some of the sticky on the neck.

I think the vintage '63 Pup is supposed to have a little more meat than the '62 vintage Pup.

Congrats on a great bass score. I own an L-series 1963 Precision and it was my main axe for many years regardless of music style I was playing. I play pop, blues, fake jazz, rock ext...I now have a heard of three mid-eighties Made in Japan 32 inch scale P-Basses that go out with me, but for many years, it was the 63. However, I do still play the 63 when I have a gig with Benito Dibartoli.

I'm aware of the thin paint, I take great care of my basses but it will look great with some natural relicing.

I didn't love the Sonic Blue, the color wasn't vibrant enough for my liking. It's a very subtle color.

Can't wait to gig this beauty this weekend.

I had to get one of these when they first came out. These are as good a P-Bass fender has made in 30 years.
The pickup sonds great, The neck contour is to die for. Mine is light-weight 8.0 pounds without covers.
They will only get better with age.

Good score! I picked up my Olympic White 63' AVRI a few weeks ago from a fellow TBer; these really are amazing instruments. It's also one of the lightest; mine is under 8 lbs.
