That seems pretty typical of Chinese manufacturing, they are capable of far better, but why bother?

Chinese manufacturers have access to the same CNC machines that everyone else has; they can, when making stuff for a customer with high standards and deep pockets that wants good stuff made by the thousands, make very good stuff.

If you order a one off, however, you're gonna get what you're gonna get.
