NBD-Dean Hillsboro J

I had one identical to that, great bass for the price- way better than any of the "Skwyre) stuff.
(PS- tort will look like crap on that, IMHO)
Oh, but I love Tort
Torty, torty, torty, tort.....yum! :-)

I'm guessing you don't like the new pickguards, either.
Me?
The pickguard is the reason I first bought my Hillsboro way back when!

That's the new one? I actually really like that one. Filling in that one swoop spot in the middle is all it needed... makes it look smoother overall and gives it more visual continuity. Again, that's just my thought on it. I'm sure I like stuff that others don't, but that's part of what makes this discussion forum so interesting! If everyone agreed all the time it would be pretty boring.

That’s the John Lawhon Signature Hillsboro

The only one they still make

True enough.
I just like odd art deco pickguards.
The cutout spot on the Hillsboro pickguard probably puts off quite a few people, though.

Yeah those aren't my cup of tea either. I just like to see the curves of the pickguard coincide with the curves of the body or with the placement of the electronics/hardware. The cutout spot just doesn't make sense to me aesthetically and reminds me of "tribal" designs... the more I read what I'm writing here, the more I realize that my friends are right, I've become a conservative! Oh well, c'est la vie. Guess I just need things to be intentional, utilitarian, neat, and even at this point in my life :bassist:

My least favorite pickguard?
The Telecaster.
I mean, they managed to make the deluxe models look good but I would've liked to be there when they decided to chop of the bottom of the regular one, just so I could say "Seriously?"

Well, enough hijacking the thread for me!

At least you're not a 'boring' hijacker! :-)
