Enjoy that beauty, brother! I also have tried playing fretless two or three times and have arrived at the same conclusion. If that is you in your avatar, you are the 'spitting image' of a very talented guitar player in one of my long-ago bands. Brothers from different mothers...![]()

That is an absolutely beautiful instrument. Congrats. Is Elrick a new builder?

No. Hes been around for a while. I first played one of his basses about 8 or so years back. I fell in love with the feel of the neck. Absolutly Incredible.
Funny, I was thinking how much he looks like Gord Downey (Singer of Canada's best kept secret The Tragically Hip).![]()
@ allen... I was kidding about Rob being a new builder. I've been an Elrick owner since 2003 (Elrick club member #2). Eventually mine will either go to one of my grandchildren or Mrs. blue will mount it on a wall in the family room.

Holy Cow is that beautiful I don't know how he matched the pickups and cavity cover.i'm glad I suck because I couldn't handle anything that sweet congrats and enjoy.
Man, the first pictures didn't do justice to that top. The updated pic really shows it. Stunning. I bet it sounds amazing. I too just got a new-to-me Elrick that is blowing me away. I'll post it up when I get a chance to take pics. Love the sound and the look.
He matches the grain on cavity cover by sawing it out from the same piece of wood in that same spot. I love this feature. The pickup covers don't have matching grain so I'd guess he probably just cut them from the leftovers of the top wood.

I had a similar in maple, fretless pink lined board, Aero PJ PUPs, one of the best, lightest basses I've ever owned. Tried to buy it back with no luck. Don't ever let it go!
Perfect! What a great bass. Amazing specs and it looks incredible. Is it new or used?
For used "new to me" basses, I have a routine/tradition....
1. I immediately get home with it and show it to everyone in the house and tell them how amazing the bass is. The wife and kids roll their eyes as I have done this dozens of times.
2. Right to my office/studio to play it for a bit (usually before dinner).
3. After dinner, get all my bass cleaning and restringing supplies, grab some beers, and spend a good hour cleaning and setting up the new bass.
4. Back to the studio to play for an hour or two with more beers.
If it is a new bass, I skip #3 but don't skip the beers.![]()
