An Amercian Standard? First I've seen a Standard like this. I have one of the American "Special" bodies in Honey burst and love it. Sweet, great looking bass. Great decision making on your part!

That's an old school build. Looks like either tung oil application, or possible a water based satin finish. I like ash too. Surprised to hear you use the word "light" in the same sentence. But maybe this is a slightly thinner body.
