NBD - G&L LB-100

It seems like there have been a lot of these "NBD G&L LB-100" threads lately. I guess that's because they are awesome basses!

Finally got mine on Thursday. So far I love it. Problem is I now have to decide what my "go-to" bass is: my LB-100 or my G&L JB. But that's a problem I can live with.

I went with the stock #12. I love the #8 on my JB but wanted to try a wider nut (the back is also slightly flatter than my JB).

As for weight, I am just destined to play heavy basses. My JB is 10.5 and this is 9.5 - the heaviest LB-100 I've seen (though I don't know the weights of a lot of them). I was hoping for 9 but what can you do?

Had I know I'd get a 9.5, I "might" have gone with the Empress. But honestly, it's not a big deal. My JB never bothered me in gigs and I can sit down at practice.

How do you know which neck you like the best? Not sure there's anywhere in the UK that stocks enough g&l basses to try the different neck shapes.

Mine weighs in at 8lb 3oz.

That is just righteous. Love it (well, them). I have a Ruby Red Metallic M-2500, and that's probably my favorite G&L finish, though it's tough to choose because they're all so great. The tort guard over Ruby Red was an inspired choice, and the matching headstock takes it all the way. (Wish my M-2500 had one -- otherwise it's perfect.)

How do you like the #12 neck v. the #8? Due to finger issues I've sworn off anything but silky playing J necks, but I'm thinking a G&L #12 with the 12" radius might not be much different.
