NBD - Hammersmith P4

In my experience "Fragile" is read as "Stamp on me" by our friendly Fedex guys....

I had it held at the FedEx branch, and went to pick it up. That way, if there were any issues they would have to deal with them immediately (and couldn't pin it on me).

My first ever bass was delivered by FedEx but I was at home when it arrived.....Box was bent at a nasty angle roughly where the neck would have been and had a bloody big boot mark at the spot where the bend was.....
Didn't even bother opening it....Refused to take delivery.....Still a bit bitter and twisted about it....Sorry for hijacking your thread...

Oh man I want a Hammersmith bass SO BAD!!! They are the most beautiful basses Ive seen in a while and according to Remco Hendix's little demos, sound killer too! Man oh man. Lucky B OP
In fairness, Remco could make just about anything with strings sound amazing. He credits the basses and the Nordstrands for sounding great, but no one else can take the bass out of his hands and make it sound like him. The technique and fingers are something else.

Congrats on a beautiful bass! It may be the angle of the photo taken, but does it look to anyone else like the bridge may be a bit off centre?

I thought the photo angle might be off also, but it's not the bridge, which as you can see brings the strings nicely through the pickup poles. I think maybe the neck needs a Fender style "loosen screws and pull towards top horn" adjustment, as it seems the strings don't flow straight down the middle of the neck. The pockets are fairly snug, but if the box was handled roughly (even if not damaged), it's possible that the neck got shifted a hair towards the treble side where there is less wood to counteract any possible movement of the neck.

It's less damage that worries me, but I think it's crazy that a $1000+ instrument could simply sit on someone's front porch for hours at a time, waiting to be carried off by whoever happens to notice it. I always request signatures, but that doesn't mean they won't leave a package since residential deliveries are usually out of their way, so I was VERY happy when he told me he was having it held for pickup. I'd actually prefer this option for any shipment going out, and will begin to suggest it to all buyers.

Yeah, I saw the "HAL" sticker on it. Good idea to check it out right there. However - for me anyway - I have NEVER had one problem with FedEx.... USPS a little and UPS? Dunno why but they have beaten up my deliveries the most. YMMV, obviously. ANYWAY -- My FedEx guys see me coming and they kinda congregate and ask me to open it right there so they can see what I bought. I even gave a "New-Other" Squier Jag Bass to one of them. You'd think I gave him a brick of gold!
That bass is a beauty!

Here's the box that it came in (the cat approves):

Congrats on the new bass, looks great. I have a J4 on order and have a P4 to use till it ready. Marko has been great to work with. Here is the P4 I'm using now.View attachment 889226

This is the Medium Scale P4 that was originally given a test drive by BassHappy, about 100 miles away. @Bassplayer315 contacted me about a medium scale J, and after agreeing to put a deposit down, we sent him the P to try out for a few weeks until his J was ready... which means this P4 pictured will be available for someone else to purchase. If anyone is interested they can send a PM to Bassplayer315 or myself, or check out the previous sale thread in the Bazaar here: SOLD - Hammersmith P4 - 32" Medium Scale
