Did Lakland get the idea of their oval bridge plate from that bass?

Hey Chrisk-
I think they had that plate design before the HB. Not positive about that. Some like it and some really don’t.
I think it kinda looks like a belt buckle you’d see holding up a pair of Wranglers - which is cool by me. It’s solid and iconic - sounds about right

I have one of these and love it. I put in a sadowsky preamp, but I'm thinking of trying it out passive again. The preamp is amazing, but there's something to the passive tone with this bass.

I have to agree with you, deep. Within the last year I’ve dived into exploring the nuances of passive pickups with more tube amp oooomph, as opposed to getting that “sonic floor” from a pre amp. I think for the original music I’m exploring now, it’s the way to go.

I remember growing up in the mid-60s that in a lot of the bands on TV and in magazines (I was a big fan mag reader) the bassists were using Guild, Epiphone, Harmony, Hofner of course and other hollowbodies

You’re right about HB’s bringing the 60’s vibe. I played an 1965 Eko HB, a Framus Star (early Bill Wyman) and a few others. They all felt and sounded a bit “fragile”. This baby feels and sounds really solid and stable.

Hey MCM - it's feels just right against the abs/torso. Some HB's feel like acoustic guitars.
