I think those older ones are pine I believe?Thank you. I thought the factory white pickguard was ugly so I took it off. It's a shame the newer CV 50's P's are using basswood now.

Looks nice. I think I'm going to leave mine offI have one of those also. I had the pickguard off for a while but had a parchment and black one made. I love this bass. Enjoy!

Agreed. They are some of the best basses IMO.Can't go wrong with any CV IMHO.
Yeah it does look kinda out of place. I could just take it off. I may do that.Nice choice.
Great to see that there is no channel route under the guard and that bridge should be a nice upgrade from the original design's 2-saddle. I do think that without the guard, the finger rest looks a bit out of place, but it's still a good looking bass.
I've said this before, but -though we both play better instruments- my brother and I have commented at various times that if we played everything on the current generation of squire instruments we'd be just fine and no one in the audience would mind a bit.
I had one and played it as my main bass for awhile. I did some upgrades and completely ruined the bass. With this one I'm leaving it alone.Cool bass. I love my Squier Matt Freeman P bass also. It's not just good for the money either, it's a very good bass. The pickups compare to my friends 80's Japanese P-bass and the neck is solid as a rock with no buzzy frets and perfect action. It's a big manly bass with big sound.
Nice bass. Yeah I love mine. They feel nice and chunky. They can be heavy with the pine body so keep that in mind.I almost got one of these, instead I found a squier vintage modified precision TB on craigslist and decided to try it out. Glad to hear you like yours cause now I'm probably going to buy one now haha
It does play nice.Love it!! I bet it's a joy to play? I really like the finish, excellent.
I think it looks good.Let me know what you think.
