NBD - Ibanez SR1200 Premium!

I just bought this yesterday. I played it a couple of weeks ago and it had been on my mind ever since. It sounds fantastic and plays very easily. Sound-wise it easily holds it's own with my pricier basses. The pickups are Nordstrand big singles and the preamp is a 3 band EQ. It has a really nice wenge/bubinga neck. The body is mahogany with an ovangkol top and a couple of other wood layers (don't know what kind). It balances well on a strap and weighs less than 8 pounds!

Here are the obligatory photos. It's certainly nice to look at.

This is my third Ibanez bass. I previously owned a Musician and an ATK. I've had only good experiences with Ibanez basses.

Here's a brief video with some slap and fingerstyle:

Here's a longer one with only fingerstyle:

I must admit, even though I think Ibanez offers the best bang for your buck on lower-end bass guitars I've never been particularly attracted to their upper-mid/upper tier basses for whatever reason. However, that thing is SEXY! I would have never guessed it weighs less than 8 pounds, it looks like it weighs as much as a tree! (which is awesome).

The body and neck are fairly thin and the headstock is compact, resulting in a lighter instrument. I'm looking forward to being less tired when playing standing up.

I was going to buy the bass hanging on the wall but the salesperson brought out a brand new unboxed one for me to compare. I wound up buying the unboxed because the notes seemed to sustain a bit longer in the usual dead spot area of the G string, compared to the off the rack bass.
