I don't get how Ibanez makes money on this stuff, the level of fit and finish, electronics, etc are just better than most other makers at almost every price range. Even the 200 series are great little starter basses, and SR500 and up are pro level for short money. They must really leverage technology and efficiency, like most Japanese products. Great looking bass, a little jealous!

I have an SR3000SOL that is sort of similar to this. Ibanez (IMO) doesn't get enough credit. They have an outstanding product. Nice bass man, congrats!

The bridge pieces are sunk into the body as well. You can't really tell by looking at it but the base pieces are flush with the top. The top has a slight curvature as well. I spent a ton of time on a 5 string version of this bass at the music store. Beyond comfortable. Like I am an idiot for not owning one type of comfortable.

I agree, but it must be said that I'm not a Fender guy. Conversely, a vintage Fender fan probably wouldn't dig the SR1200. But I like clean, modern tone and the Ibanez delivers!

My favorite aspect is the necks, super thin and fast, oil finish, so not sticky. Fits my smallish hands, might not be comfortable for the ham-handed. Tempted to sell a couple basses and get an SR.

Ibanez SR basses are effortless to play. My current favorite is my Prestige SR5005 in all Wenge. THis bass sounds and plays as good as basses I've owned int $3500-5000 range.

I think the decision to partner with Nordstrand was huge.

The custom US Bartolini pickups combined with the Wenge wood makes a tone that is absolutely unbelievable in a live band setting. I sold a custom Benavente that costs $6000 to build and honestly this Prestige plays and sounds just as good with comparable build quality. This is the 3rd Prestige bass I've owned and all 3 killed. Best bass on the market for the money.

I've been doing it all wrong, spending money on expensive basses when an Ibanez would fit the bill!

I've owned 7-8 Ibanez Premium and all have been good but the Prestige basses are on a whole new level IMO. They will play and outperform many basses 2-3 times the amount. Here are the 3 I've had and all 3 was amazing.

That's what I was going to say. It is definitely a middle class mans wick! My 2006 sr500 is the poor mans wick. I can't call a prestige/premium a poor mans anything, so middle class it is.

Wenge neck makes the difference, that ovangkol top is just icing on the cake.
