NBD!! Ibanez SRSC Content...

I took some time and filed down the nut today.... I’ll never understand the stair step height approach to cutting a nut. This thing had virtually zero clearance on the C and G String at the first fret. It progressed up to about 3/64” for the B String at the first fret (the height stepped up from high to low). It was virtually impossible to fret the C on the B string without feeling like my hand had to become a clamp to keep it from buzzing. Ridiculous.

Seriously though... I understand the larger string arc on the B string. I get it. But.... Why do people spend huge amounts of money getting frets leveled to ridiculously close standards (Plek) only to make the nut so erratically cut? Does this make sense? How about a Zero Fret? It’s level with all of the other frets.... Right? Isn’t the nut essentially supposed to be cut the same way? If you need to compensate for the larger string arc, raise it at the bridge!!!

Okay. Rant over. I just don’t get it.

I ended up exchanging the first one for this one... There were some uneven fret issues that I don’t think are reasonable in a new instrument. Turns out that this one is better in multiple ways. It just sets up better all around. The nut was 98% awesome out if the box. Very pleased. These are great Basses. I play it in passive mode almost exclusively. I really just can’t deal with active preamps with passive tone anymore. I guess I’m getting old. Lol. So, I’m pretty sure I’m going to swap out the electronics for a 3 Band Audere Classic with a 3 Way Mid Switch and an always usable Passive Tone Control. I’ll post pics when it’s installed. Once again. Great bass. Awesome playability. Very solid.

Is the body on that six string huge? Thinking of buying that bass, but I hate those massive six string bodies
