Arrived a few days ago. Honestly I'm not 100% sure I'm going to keep it (I need to play it some more), but it's nice-looking, and I may have been lucky to get one because the number that were made seems to be limited.

I got it through Sweetwater, and fortunately I ordered it far enough in advance that I was guaranteed one. Soon after, the bass disappeared from their site because the number of orders they'd gotten had already hit the number of basses they were promised.

That's one reason I'll probably end up keeping it: I think these will be rare enough that selling it will no problem (it comes with an autographed certificate and other things like that). I have nothing against the bass, just wasn't sure whether I was in love with it, and I only have 30 days to make up my mind.

That's a beautiful looking bass! And the JC sounds great too. I have a feeling you'd be very sorry if you sent it back....

Aside: where was it made? I think I saw something about manufacturing moving from Korea to China?

Really don't understand what Epiphones marketing people are thinking. IMHO, the Sunburst ones (also apparently a very limited production run) and these red ones are the only decent colors they've painted these things. The white, black, silverburst and gold ones don't appeal to me at all. The blue is the best of the lot after the red ones, but even those are "meh..." for me.

Your results may differ as color preferences are totally personal and arbitrary. But I've heard a lot of people express enthusiasm for the red color scheme, so it just seems a stupid business decision to limit their production.

But what do I know?

Also, what exactly does "limited" mean? I guess manufacturers never say exactly how many they're producing in cases like this, but is it 1,000? 50,000? It's notable that Amazon and GC don't seem to carry these, though.

I'm guessing what it means is that they only plan to build a certain number of them both to limit their own risk and to justify higher prices, but I would bet that if they sell out, they'll make more as long as they keep selling at the higher price.

But the thing is, they're not selling it at a higher price! It's the same price as the regular non-limited-edition ones.

Really love Epiphones, favourite brand. I have 2 Thunderbirds, and a Viola Bass that I always use at any major gig, plus about 5 other Epi instruments. The Jack Casady is one of those basses that I quite like, but haven't got one yet. Probably will get one, but my favourite colour was the one that got away, the Limited Ed. White. Loved it, but didn't take the plunge. Wish I did though. I really want a semi-hollow looking bass, but don't wanna branch out from the brand. This seems the best choice.

The only one apart from this Epi that I don't have that's been in production for a while apart from the Tobias series are the EB-0/EB-3. Sort of interested, but not overboard.

Congrats on your new bass.
