NBD Meteora Bass Build

Well I always liked the Fender Meteora body shape. So since Fender hasn't decided to build one, I had a spare 60's CV Jazz bass that was a great donor.
I purchased a body from Ceccarini Guitars. Here is the parts I used and I am really happy how it turned out. I know the pics aren't the best, but it's been raining so outside light is non exist. I was surprised that there is minimal (won't say no) neck dive, but nowhere close to my Mockingbird. I am sure with a set of Hipshot ultra light tuners will fix it. I really want to color match the headstock but wanted to make sure everything went well before taking the plunge as I can always return the jazz bass back.

Body - ASH
Neck - Squire CV 60's Jazz neck with squire tuners
Pickups - Fender V-MOD out of a Professional Jazz along with electronics
Bridge - Fender Vintage style

The chrome T-bird covers would go great against the dark finish, and pair with the bridge. Maybe chrome J covers (if any exist) over humbucking J pickups?

That looks great! I'd love one myself, you've created a real rarity there - an unusual/one off bass that just looks right.

A short scale version would likely eliminate most of that neck dive, and a PJ setup couldnt hurt either, just in case anyone from Fender is reading..

honestly the neck dive is really minimal and having a strap that isn’t slippery seat belt material would stop it.

The shop I got the body from will do any routes you want. I just happen to really like Jazz basses. But a jazz / humbucker setup is also appealing.

Well couldn’t live with the non matching headstock. In my head it needed to be black, so black it is, with some hip shot ultralights.

that’s funny…. I am no builder but when they don’t exist, I generally find a way. So far really happy with this new toy.
