NBD! MIM Geddy

This MIM Geddy is a real beaut. Top marks to Fender! Finish and setup are as good as any Fender I’ve ever had. Hardware. - bridge and tuners are absolutely perfect. Not sure about the pickups yet as I’ve only played it unplugged. I’m sure they’ll be at least par for the course for Fender Jazz single coils. The slim neck and quality fretwork make it a real pleasure to play. Acoustically, it sounds great, with no obvious dead spots. And it’s a terrific slap machine! I can’t wait to try it plugged in, especially into the Geddy Sansamp.
Comparing it to a rather nice Seventies style Harley Benton Jazz that I bought for £130 recently, you can easily tell why the MIM Fender is about seven times the price. Overall, I’m even more taken with it than I was with the CIJ Geddy that I owned previously. You do sometimes hear bad news about MIM Fenders, but with this particular one they’ve definitely hit the target. Put it this way -I definitely wouldn’t swap this MIM Geddy to get my old Japanese one back. The one minor downside is that it seems, from memory, just slightly heavier, although the weight certainly isn’t enough to put it in the boat anchor class. What a wonderful bass! Very pleasantly surprised here.

I’ve gone 10 years without buying one. Even the lightest ones are too heavy for me, and my Fenders are now “tributes” that weigh 7 1/4 lbs!
Obviously, if we want to see anything, we're going to have to break out the $1 bills.

Yes - surprisingly, there are definitely some superficial similarities.That’s uncanny.
I have always kind of wanted one - I played one of the early ones once, but that wasn't enough to form an opinion. I ended up with an olympic white MIJ 70s P Bass with black blocks, which I had Alembicized with a PJ setup and Ba**ss II bridge, so it has become my Geddy-influenced bass.

MIJ here, great sound esp. for recording but its a boat anchor. I had an all black pickguard made. Still waiting for your pic.... and how much does it weigh?
