I got the Stratocaster version of that: burst, tort, maple. Sometimes you just gotta go full in on the classics!

That would be me! Mine is a Pat Wilkins copy of Peter Cetera’s ’64 P made from ancient woods with a Fralin pickup. It does the thing. I was 62 when I got it.

Nice score! That Am Pro II is a solid bass. P bass + maple fretboard is a classic combo, and TI flats will probably suit it really well once you get it set up. Enjoy itlet's face it, you can't get any more boring than a P bass in grandpa burst and tort.
got this 2020 AM PRO II in mint condition today. still got the plastic on the ol' pickguard, with a JAZZ bass sticker. it's hardly been played!
a hat-trick of firsts for me:
• first US fender bass
• first P Bass
• first maple fretboard
weighs in at 8.6Ibs and balances really well.
need to put some TI flats on it and set it up to my liking, but it sounds and plays great just how it came.
this will probably be my last bass (i know, i know) and i was pleased to snag it for a good price. US fenders have gone through the roof in the EU and even used ones seem to be holding their value.
there can't be many 60-year-old bass players who have gone so long before owning a P Bass!

I decided to take a family picture. Believe it or not, I use ALL of these over the course of 2-3 months. I'll go a few weeks on one then, get a hankerin' for a change. Since I write and record my own tunes, one's gotta have about this many options when it comes to stringed guitar type instruments.
In back, an Ibanez -indo-parts guitar, the '26 Taylor 12*, a Yamaha that is RW & spruce and sounds amazing ($150.00), '99 MIM Stratocaster* with that 'V' neck, an import Dano-12, '26 Mod Shop Tele*, the NBD, 2010, Precision V*, and a '14 Dimension Deluxe 5* which I still love to gig. On the floor is an early 70's JB body with a Warmoth Precision neck. JB necks are too skinny for my clumsy hands.
(*bought new) The starfish on the shelf is my oldest personal possession. It was given to me by a classmate in 1966 when I was in 1st grade.

I'm a few years older than you , I've owned a bunch of P basses, but none of them were made by Fender, and none had 3 tone sunburst and/or tort. Sooooooo, you're younger than me, but also older in a way.

Prepare a set of la bella 760fx or Olinto flat for your next month's 3rd Pbass......

Red P has Ti flat, the rest has cobalt flat loaded.

The Am PRo V neck tinted more close to anodized gold pickguard . The yellow-ist Mod Shop neck look too sharp ( i am big fans on yellow-ist neck actually ) could cause the anodized pickguard look dull .
....... I do love anodized black pickguard on your Mod Shop P .

I'm beginning to appreciate the evil genius of Fender producing dozens of almost identical models: maybe I do need a vintage spec instrument, with flats...
I think maple fretboards look better with sunburst/tort than rosewood. I'm probably in the minority on this one.

The Telecaster is the Mad Shop guitar. The 4-string Precision is a 2020 AM Professional II.
That is a very nice looking bass. My '75 P bass is the same configuration.
