The general condition is extremely good for the age.
I'm really exited just to hold it in my hands. It is my first Warwick and a first bass for the last 10 years! The feeling is just great, the quality seems to be very good.

I've not played yet=) just've masturbated a bit..

What do you think about the frets and a fretboard condition?

What is this wood? How to take care of it?

If you're asking, I'd take it to someone. I wouldn't do that type of thing myself. Especially on a Warwick.

The fretboard is wenge, and like most naturally oily woods, you don't really need to re-oil it. Most fretboard treatments are just glorified mineral oil that doesn't actually go into the wood. Rather, it just lays on the surface and looks pretty for a while, then evaporates. You can gently clean the gunk build-up in the grain with very, very fine steel wool, like 0000 grade (make sure any metal shavings are far away from the pickups).

The headstock is figured walnut. Just lightly clean with a microfiber cloth now and then.

Beautiful bass, I hope it makes you very happy. The frets could take a light dressing, (a competent luthier/experienced repair person, would have those frets looking like new in no time) but they're really not bad given the age of the bass, clearly it's been well looked after.

That's a hell of a bass! I love seeing a Warwick going to another bassist! I would look up the YouTube videos from Warwick on how to maintain everything. They tell you what oils to use and all that. As far as frets go I would wait until you've had plenty of time to play every note on the neck and see just what's going on. If there's no buzz, dead spots, fretting out, and everything sounds clear leave it alone because it's only going to cause problems if you're trying to get too cute with the frets. Been there done that and learned my lesson. There's nothing wrong with taking very fine sandpaper 2000 grit and polishing the frets lightly just don't dig in anywhere and don't try for perfection. That bass is 30 years old and been broken in so I'd be very conservative on how you go about it. That said it's a schöene wick and it'll hopefully give you as fun of a time as your appendage lol...

Looks great - congrats. I recall you said you'd played 7-string guitars, so the ability to use the low-B on the bass/5-string might be useful.
