NBD! My first US made bass

Also my first G&L and first maple fretboard. I picked up this used G&L LB-100 today at a local shop. I’m not huge on the green but I just couldn’t get this bass out of my head. I went back 4 times and knew I would regret it if I didn’t pick it up. Feels well balanced and only 8.8lbs. The stock pickup sounds surprisingly good also.

The green’s the best part! :D I love that G&L regularly does green. G&L’s own pickups are notoriously great. I don’t generally go for pearl/oid guards or inlays but I wonder whether you’d like that green better with a guard that matched the inlays. Whatever you do with it, even if you just play it, score

For me, I wish the headstock was plain or matched the body. I may paint the body black some day. I think that would look killer.

The G&L P pickup is my favorite. With the tone all the way on it can be pretty aggressive and, it tames down well with the tone control rolled off a bit.

Yeah I was surprised how aggressive it was at one end and how good it still sounded at the other end too.

Congrats! I have a tribute in that color. If you repaint the body I suggest “andromeda” instead of plain black.

Pearloid would look good!
