Yippee!! This arrived today. An eBay score. Thank goodness (for me), the seller really had bad pictures posted. I suspect if he had had good pictures posted, this would have been snatched up by someone else and for a much higher price.

It is not MINT, but it is in really, really good shape. I haven't gotten to plug it in yet, though. It does have one tuner replaced with a matching Gotoh. You can easily see the difference in person, from the back. Fortunately, I have a little stash of the stock tuners, so I can swap it out to look all original.

I have another 1st Gen TL6 in honeyburst. I got this because I like the color better and it's in a little better shape cosmetically. As long as the electronics check out okay, I'll be selling my other one.

Thus, I already know how a TL6 sounds and plays and love it! This one feels very comparable in weight to my other one, too. So, I'm expecting to see a number less than 10# on my digital scale.

An active/passive P/P bass. Possibly the most underrated configuration in all of Bassdom. Neck-through body. Ebony board. 3-band EQ in active, passive tone control in passive. If it had a sweepable mid frequency, it would really be my ideal setup. Too bad nobody makes that...

The battery box door looks okay... but it's broken, just like all of 'em. But, the broken-off tab is actually in there. I'm going to have to see if I can fix it with some superglue. What looks like a white line there is just a reflection off the edge of the upper lid.

I don't know why the carbon fiber in this looks so yellow. I guess it's just the lighting. It's not yellow in person. Or not nearly as much so, anyway.

I don't know if he was selling Cirrus. He was selling a bunch of TL6s, though! I do see now that he also has a sweet-looking Cirrus 6 for sale. Trans black flamed maple with maple board. If I hadn't just sold my own Cirrus 6 because I can't hack the 35" scale, I would be all over that one.

Yeah I think that's him. He sold a bunch of Cirrus a short while ago.
I had a great Dyna Bass back in the day and never should have sold it. I didn't know much about EQing back then. I think I would have enjoyed it much more now. That preamp had tons of options.

Actually, I'm not really sure. Early to mid 90s, I think.

The 2nd Gen is the same except that it is active only and has the mid-frequency sweep on its 3-band EQ. I think the TL series (5 and 6 stringers) was replaced by the Cirrus, when it came out.

The 1st Gen TL6 is so awesome, it is the bass Roy Vogt based the design of his new Kiesel/Carvin Roy Vogt Signature Vanquish 6 on. If you look at that one, you can see it's almost identical. The only real functional difference is the Kiesel has mid-frequency sweep, but no passive tone control. And the Kiesel is a bolt-on neck.

The tab that would hold the battery door shut is actually broken off. But, it's in there, so will probably try to superglue it.

That is a reflection on the back from the silver metal trim around the lid of the case.

I got a new Peavey miniMega 1000 amp a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm tempted to look for some kind of Peavey cab, just so I can run an all-Peavey rig. Hmmmm..... I had a Peavey Pro series 410 a while back that was very nice. But the Tour series (? TX?) 410 I tried I really didn't think sounded that great. An 810 or a 215 might also be nice. Hmmmm..... :D

Very nice. My old TL-Five had a break in the cover too that I was able to glue. Worked perfect and was never an issue again. Sound clips are needed after you have it playing to your liking!! :D

I had the Peavey 410TX (I think) back in the early 90's when they came out. Sounded nearly identical to the SWR Goliath II when I AB'd them way back when.

One of the worst gear mistakes I have made was selling my TL6. I have seen the auctions and you bought from and I'm very tempted. I've wanted one of the burst TL6's for years, mine was black. I asked the seller for better pics and he never responded. Still tempting though.



Congrats, those are hidden gems.
