NBD: Peavey TL-Six 1st Gen, Black

The 1st Gen TL6 is so awesome, it is the bass Roy Vogt based the design of his new Kiesel/Carvin Roy Vogt Signature Vanquish 6 on. If you look at that one, you can see it's almost identical. The only real functional difference is the Kiesel has mid-frequency sweep, but no passive tone control. And the Kiesel is a bolt-on neck.

IMHO the TL sounds much better in passive mode. I doubt I'd ever get a 2nd gen and be stuck only 'active'.

Are you talking to me or drumsnbass? I suspect me. The guy I bought it from did say he bought it from someone on TalkBass. A few months ago, I think. It came to me from Wisconsin.

Sorry that post was for you Stuart. Yes I sold most of my 6's to the gentleman you got yours from. Heck of a nice guy and a TB member. Maybe he will pop in. I think if I ever sold my eerie's I would sell them as a pair, they are both 1st gen, but I don't think they would be cheap!

I had a TL5. It was nice. But, I don't really care about owning another one. But, I am all about a 6-string P bass! I have just about settled myself to thinking all I need is a 6-string P/P or P/J (with backup), a 5-string EBMM Sterling (or Stingray, for that Stingray sound), a 4-string fretless J, maybe a 4-string P (in case the "image" is required), and MAYBE a 5-string fretted J. But that is it. I really think I could be perfectly content and capable of playing any gig I'll ever have with just the first 4 basses I listed in my fleet.

That black is siiiiick...didn't know they did that color, or the blue or green (mmmm, green is puuuuurdy). Also didn't know some of them (TL's in general) had graphite overlays on the headstocks! My GOD how I miss the Peavey of yesterday....
