Thank you! I agree, the white is very classy. I've got a pickguard on it from Alperious pickguards too, really adds to it. The purple is the polar opposite. Very in your face and over the top. Seems fitting for a T-bird

I wish Gibson would adopt some of these cool colors that Epi uses. I've wanted a bird in Pelham blue for years, but I can never find one. There's something so cool looking about the black Tbird headstock with the accent painted a bright color.

I wish gibson was still making "real" thunderbirds. Last time I checked all you can get are the slab body set neck Gene Simmons bird, or the set neck Rex Brown bird. No neck through T birds (aside from the non reverse)

It's definitely way classier. I've always been a sucker for gloss black with a white pickguard and gold hardware. Very tuxedo esque

That's a bummer. Though I don't put a lot of credence in neck joints effecting tone, when I buy a bass like a Tbird, I'm looking for the classic experience of that bass.

Honestly thunderbirds should come in fun colours. Give us more than tobacco burst and black! Purple basses and guitars are always good

All basses should come in more colors than burst and black. That being said, I don't have any purple on mine but I think I covered most other colors.

Oh absolutely. If it's a player it's a player no matter how it's built. That being said, the slab bodies feel cheap to me. A bug part of what makes a thunderbird to me is that raised center. At least the rex brown one still has that (I believe) I'm more bummed that they don't have a regular thunderbird, just the artist ones. I was really into the Troy Sanders jaguar fender did, but generally I don't like artist instruments. I want to start with the basics and mod how I want, not a bass already tricked out the way somebody else wants. That and you're only colour options are black with chrome pickguard or black with anodized aluminum pickguard. Gibson did a nice cherry sunburst a few years ago that I'm shocked didn't stick around.

I picked up one of the new Epiphone thunderbirds in ember red a few months ago and have been struggling with some neck issues. Finally exchanged it today for ANOTHER Epiphone thunderbird 64. This one though is sparkly purple though! Apparently it was a limited edition color for gibson month at long and mcquade. This is easily the most obnoxious, gaudy, and glamorous bass I've ever owned. Fought with the other one for months, this one took about 20 minutes on my bench to get it playing perfectly. Now, for your viewing pleasure, BEHOLD!!! I've owned a Purple Thunderbird for at least 10 years, this is a '76, custom painted by Mike Lull

Here in the States the Sparkle Purple and Sparkle Blue are available as a limited run thru ZzSounds and AMS, in addition to the Purple the Sparkle Blue is actually a lovely color, a very deep Sapphire Blue, ( like a Bombay Gin bottle) which, so far, has eluded good photography by me.............
