Looking at this, i can feel the orange shag carpet under my toes in my van with ZZ Top crankin’ out the 8 Track.

Pictures don't quite do these sparkle finishes justice. Great looking basses. That purple one you have is pretty killer too.I've owned a Purple Thunderbird for at least 10 years, this is a '76, custom painted by Mike Lull

Here in the States the Sparkle Purple and Sparkle Blue are available as a limited run thru ZzSounds and AMS, in addition to the Purple the Sparkle Blue is actually a lovely color, a very deep Sapphire Blue, ( like a Bombay Gin bottle) which, so far, has eluded good photography by me.............

It's really unfortunate, I guess Gibson uses all the good paint on it's SG and Les Paul guitars, so all we're left with is brown, black, and cherryThank you for posting this truth.
The green is still a kick ass colour. If my red one wasn't having issues I wouldn't have bothered trading it for this one, but if I'm going to exchange it anyways, why WOULDNT I go for the purple one
I picked up one of the new Epiphone thunderbirds in ember red a few months ago and have been struggling with some neck issues. Finally exchanged it today for ANOTHER Epiphone thunderbird 64. This one though is sparkly purple though! Apparently it was a limited edition color for gibson month at long and mcquade. This is easily the most obnoxious, gaudy, and glamorous bass I've ever owned. Fought with the other one for months, this one took about 20 minutes on my bench to get it playing perfectly. Now, for your viewing pleasure, BEHOLD!!! (Ignore the high action on the third picture, I took that shot pre-setup)View attachment 5449620 View attachment 5449621 View attachment 5449622
Technically there is a tiger on my headstockPut gold-plated pickups and hardware on it, and a tiger-head sticker on the pickguard, and you've got an LSU bass. Geaux Tigers!

They definitely aren't for everyone. Their necks really work for me, and I've never had an issue getting a tone out of them that also works for me.By golly, there sure is! Would never have noticed it without the close-up. Actually that is one sharp-looking bass, but there are ergonomic and musical-style issues -- not to mention age -- that would prevent me from owning a T-bird.
