I figured this is worthy of a NBD post since I’ve never made one before! fedex just dropped this beauty off at the shop, so you know I can’t wait to get home and plug it in. I think it goes without saying, but this is the nicest bass I’ve ever had in my hands and Roger is wonderful to deal with, as some of y’all know.

This color is satin black pearl (which may turn out to be a fingerprint magnet) and only weighs 7.6lbs!

Congratulations, enjoy your new instrument! I have a Japanese version of that bass with NYXL 45-130 strings, which absolutely killed any gig I brought it to. Sound guys and band members love that instrument all the same, and to me, it feels like driving a comfy high-end car. My favorite setting:
  • Active, Volume 100%, VTC 100%
  • Neck pickup slightly favored
  • Bass 50%, treble 55%

I’ll probably go through both sets of sadowsky strings first (the ones that come on it and the extra pack he sends) and the try the NYXL’s because I already run them on other basses.

I haven’t found a setting that sounds bad yet!

And it will take my hands a little bit to get used to the pickup location and the feel as I’ve been on vintage style instruments since 2017… but so far it sounds great to me. Can’t wait to play it live!

Please tell us more why you like that bass! I'm in the market for a five string and there's one available locally.

To be honest, I don’t really know why! I don’t want a really fancy ornate top (even though they are fun) because that’s not my style and I didn’t want a 35” scale. But I did want wider string spacing and dual soaps. Also, it’s easier to reach the 22nd fret when there’s 24 of them.

I played active 5’s from the very early 2000’s till about 2017 and then I switched to vintage style instruments with an American pro P5 because everyone needs a p bass, right ? I even got stingray special 5 when they came out, cuz I had never had a stingray.

This is just a hobby for me, although sometimes a paying one… I’ve been debating getting something like this again and I’ve never had a Sadowsky, so this is just what I settled on based off the specs and the sound clips I heard online because I couldn’t go try one in person. I always dreamed of having sort of a “boutique” bass at some point in my life, and I guess the timing was right. I haven’t even had it 24 hours, so I don’t think my opinion is valid yet 😂

In the end, if you got the money in the bank for a non necessity… go for it.
