I feel it in my 70s.I just don't mind the weight as much as some folks do although I feel it more now in my 60s than I used to. This getting old business, I tell you.
No neckdive with the new style tuners. They're pretty good. Not Hipshot, but for the money....Nice bass, congrats!
How is it balanced with this weight?
As far as I understand it has new premium lightweight tuners. How do they work?
Definitely Jazz. Maybe even thinner than a Jazz. Very comfortable, though. I've always liked thinner necks.Does the neck feel like a P or Jazz
This has a mahogany back and an ash top, so it's going to be lighter than an all ash body. This is interesting. I thought the 6 series were the new Sires that were meant to be lightweight? Is this something, Sire is doing with all their models going forward?
My advice is this. When you find a bass that you really like as far as feel, balance and playability don’t let it get away. Sweetwater will repair it at no charge and cover all shipping.Well, so much for the love affair with this Sire bass. At practice last week the volume in active mode got extremely loud and noisy for no reason. I had to play the rest of the practice in passive mode, which ain't all bad. I'm thinking there is an issue with the pre-amp. Of course it was not within the 30 day period for Sweetwater returns. Waiting to hear back from them on what they want to do. I like the bass and really don't want to send it back. Would like to have it repaired(on their dime). We'll see what they say. Can't trade it in for another one because they're all sold out of that model. One like it without the sandblasted finish is $200-$250 higher. Ugh!
I kinda like the gold anodized look of this one. Never been a fan of pearloid guards. But it would match the fret markers nicely.Nice looking bass! Also, not telling you how to live your life, but a white pearl pickguard would match the block inlays nicely…
I imagine Sweetwater will make it right. They have never been anything but great on the customer service end. I've still got the box they shipped it in. I'll gladly send it back for repair. They need to give me direction. My advice is this. When you find a bass that you really like as far as feel, balance and playability don’t let it get away. These things happen with all occasionally. I have MTD LK5 that I had them install a Bartolini preamp. When I received it the volume pot seemed faulty. They had me return it and corrected problem. This is currently my “go to” bass.
I get it back tomorrow.

Sweetwater sent me a label and they already have the bass. They had one left and offered to switch that out. It was 10 lbs, though and I didn't want anything that heavy. Look forward to getting my bass back. Hopefully theses pre-amps aren't a problem and it pukes out again. They will send you a return shipping ticket and take care of you. Ordered a set of aluminum knobs for the one I had… made a big difference.Just picked this up from Sweetwater. Got rid of my Fender PJ and wanted something to replace it. Sire makes unbelievably good stuff for the $$. This is what they call sandblasted finish. I like it it. At 7lb 6oz, it is by far the lightest bass I have owned. Still getting used to the roundwound strings, They came with DR DragonSkins. I have TI Jazz Flats on my other basses. Bandmates say they like 'em, though. But does anybody pay attn to the tone of a bass except bass players. Anyway, I think I'll keep it. View attachment 7413200
